About Me

**OUR MYSPACE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION**

Initially conceived in 2001, Epitone Records was birthed in a basement in East Meadow, New York. This label would be the brainchild of industry fixture James Shields . A man who to date has influenced the careers of many famous local and mid level bands. Not wanting to play up many of his endeavors, he plays behind the scenes and would rather be a fan and a musician then an overbearing label executive. “I wasn’t trying to be the music industries next victim. I was going to take my time. Find the right bands. The ones who deserve to be heard.” he says. “I’m trying to build a family. Not one hit wonders. Let the industry do whatever it wants. I’m not going to sellout. I refuse to sell you bobble head dolls.” With a vision in one hand and pure ambition in the other this young 24-year-old looks to succeed in an industry littered with the bodies of those with good intent. The label now prepares in earnest to release its first album. It has been almost six years after he started this journey. “Were all very excited over here” he notes. But when asked who would be his first release or who was on his label, he smiles and says “no comment”. He clearly has a plan for the future and is not willing to share. Charismatic and secretive all at the same time is a tough thing to pull off. But it fits him well. Ending our conversation we grab our starbucks and make way to the door joking on how people think he looks like a young Sean Penn. All and all I look forward to following this label and its young CEO. Who knows what he may have up his sleeve.
We don't get paid for the banner... we just think its an important cause.
