About Me

"Well, she's fascinated with Greenland. She enjoys teasing animals, banlon, and seeing people running for their lives. She loves throwing garbage out the window, yet she's extremely dainty"
-Seinfeld

None of that really fits me per se, except for the dainty part perhaps (on a good day.)

My Interests

Politics (strictly in an observational sense), Reading books, Reading magazines, trivial pursuit, trivia in general, writing (or more like thinking of ideas but not actually ever putting them down on paper, so I guess brainstorming more than the actual writing writing.) Having funny things happen that I can tell people about later, analyzing the minutiae of everyday life.

I'd like to meet:

Pretty much anyone that will make me laugh (at or with) and also an elderly (perhaps sickly), obscenely wealthy, long-lost relative who views me as a daughter figure.

Music:

Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Aimee Mann, Phoenix, Heart, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Bonnie Raitt, Roy Orbison, Rilo Kiley, Dire Straits, Old 97s, and tons of Motown, and I can't help but completely love Jennifer Hudson.

Movies:

Godfather (1 and 2, and not 3 damn you Sofia Coppola!), A Few Good Men, Westside Story, Broadcast News, The Age of Innocence, My Fair Lady, Pan's Labyrinth, Evita, It Happened One Night, Clifford (only 2 people like this movie in the world I think), Better Off Dead, A Christmas Story, Casablanca, and lots of Katharine Hepburn movies like Bringing Up Baby and A Philadelphia Story.

Television:

Seinfeld, Arrested Development, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Countdown, Strangers With Candy. I also love Britcoms like The Office (the original and I have to say superior version), Keeping Up Appearances, Extras, and Da Ali G Show

Books:

Pride and Prejudice, The Portrait of A Lady, A Room With A View, W Somerset Maugham's short stories, The Age of Innocence, Hedda Gabler, A Doll's House, Othello, Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot, Me Talk Pretty One Day. I am trying to read Dr. Zhivago, so maybe one day that will be up here too.

Heroes:

Female newspaper columnists seem like for the most part a good group to idolize (well more liberal ones, so obviously excluding Ann Coulter and MIchelle Malkin which should hopefully go without saying because I'm not insane)so more like Maureen Down and Molly Ivins.
