For the past eight years, New Jersey native Cris Russo has been rocking the New York Metro area with his hypnotic melodies, relate-able lyrics, and sing-a-long hooks. Growing up listening to influences such as local heroes Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, as well as punk icons Green Day and The Offspring, Russo was musically inspired at a young age and hasn't looked back.
Russo's latest recording, a four-track EP entitled, "The Moment We've All Been Waiting," has been released to critical praise. The record is an infusion of many different genres of music; namely rock, pop, hip-hop, and jazz. No two songs sound alike, and the record has something for every listener to enjoy.
The music is currently marketed primarily online via networking sites such as Myspace.com, Ilike.com, Facebook.com, and Garageband.com. Recently, the band's Myspace page (www.myspace.com/russorock) has reached almost 20,000 fans and is averaging over 5,000 total song plays per day due to the grass-roots marketing efforts being employed by Cris and his band.
Cris' sound has been described by Crush.FM as one that "makes you want to move," and Russo was voted "Sexiest Male Singer of 2007" by the Crush.FM listeners. The tunes can be found on regular rotation at Iona College Radio, 90.3 WMSC (Montclair State University), 88.7 WPSC (William Paterson University), and online radio stations such as Crush.FM, Rockstarsglued.com and Powerhouseradio.net.
Whether playing a quiet, acoustic venue, or rocking out at a club in New York City, Cris and his band own the stage from first chord to final bow.
