Acts of balladry with violins...

About Me

Hawke and Cedric, the Bedlam Bards, are famous for playing foot-stomping, heart-pounding music about outlaws, pirates, sailing ships, misadventures, and strong drink at renaissance festivals, scifi conventions, and shindigs across the country. They have several albums out, including the best-selling Take Out the Trash, a collection of bawdy ditties. Long-time fans of Whedon's work, the Bedlam Bards watched Firefly when it aired and have been hooked ever since. Inspired by the writer's dogged determination to keep the story alive, they composed and circulated "The Ballad of Joss" and other Firefly-related songs to encourage fans to engage in guerrilla marketing. These songs have been collected in their top-selling album On the Drift: Music Inspired by Firefly and Serenity. Winners of the 2005 Blue Sun Fandom Award for Best Filk, they were recently featured on the documentary Done the Impossible, The Signal podcast, and the Big Damn Chefs' Cookbook. The Bedlam Bards have participated in fundraisers for Equality Now, the Wooten Center, and numerous other charities.

Sounds Like: When people ask what kind of music we play, we often say Celtic, but in fact we play "Renfolk Music," that unique blend of Celtic, English, Scandinavian, and American folk music mixed in with period tunes from the Renaissance and Middle Ages that rubs shoulders with the occasional incognito rock song at most Renaissance festivals. And we have a lot of fun playing it.We also have a lot of fun playing Firefly filk inspired by the show cancelled by the gorram Fox network.
