Sarah Jarosz (pronounced juh-ROSE) shares her talent and love for music through her powerful, soulful voice, songwriting, and multi-instrumental skills which include mandolin, guitar, and clawhammer banjo. Sarah currently performs as a solo artist. She is the youngest individual to win an AMA since Charlie Sexton won in the mid-80s. She has also performed at the Cactus Cafe, the Continental Club, Threadgill's, and Flipnotics in Austin, TX. Sarah has also been a guest instructor for several mandolin workshops and has donated her time and talents to numerous benefits.Sarah was one of five teens who was invited to perform with Earl Scruggs and Ricky Skaggs as part of the ABC television presentation of the 2005 CMA (Country Music Association) Music Festival hosted by Kix Brooks in Nashville, Tennessee. In May of 2006, she was a guest mandolinist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra for Ballet Austin’s production of “Romeo and Juliet.†She has appeared several times on Austin area television, including the Emmy Award winning KLRU-TV show "The Biscuit Brothers" program for children. She was featured on the KUT-FM radio programs "Eklektikos,†"Folkways,†and “LiveSet,†all originating from Austin, TX. Pete Wernick also invited Sarah to be a member of a group of young musicians known as "The Young American Bluegrass Idols" who performed at the 2003 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards Ceremony and Fan Fest in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a guest artist on the Koch Records CD, Christmas Grass, Vol. 3, October 2007. Sarah was awarded a scholarship to attend "a Mandolin Symposium" at the University of California at Santa Cruz in the summer of 2008 for the fifth consecutive year. Sarah has been selected for seven years as a member of the OAKE (Kodaly) National Honor Choir. In the spring of 2007, she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Sarah's goals are to continue to grow as a musician, singer, and songwriter, to strive to be the best person she can be, and to travel the world to share her music with people from all walks of life. She says it best herself: "I see myself spending my entire life doing what I love, and that love is music."
