U.C. Sampdoria

U.C.Sampdoria is a football club based in Genova, Italy. The club was formed in 1946 from the merger of two existing clubs, Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. Sampdoria currently competes in the Italian Serie A. The team's colors are blue, white, red and black known as blucerchiati. Sampdoria plays at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, capacity 41,917.Sampdoria won the scudetto in 1991; the club also won the Coppa Italia four times (1985, 1988, 1989, and 1994). The team won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1990. Sampdoria also reached the UEFA Champions League final in 1992, and lost against Spanish team FC Barcelona.In the last decade Sampdoria achieved a place in the UEFA Cup by finishing 5th in the table at the end of the 2004/05 Serie A season.
