A story that gives the designs more than just the function of lighting up a room. A story of energy being transformed into light and a story that borroughs elements from archetypical shapes in nature, inspired by animals and science fiction.When designing Søren takes care of all the little details.Everything in the lamp, from the transformer, the cord, the off switch, and the fittings has to be incorporated into the story of the design, giving a unified whole.Søren chooses his materials very carefully. Some times using traditional materials as porcelain in new and unexpected ways (for example BetweeN2ShapeS), and some times he uses state of the art materials, that shapes the light, both reflecting the light and letting light pass through the materials (for example Light Shaper.Søren ensures, that his lamps don't waste light unnecessarily by considering the many angles and curves that the light reflects on, inside and outside the lamp.Light from the light source that is wasted doesn't get out of the lamp and is transformed into useless heat.In Light Shaper and Light Shell Søren used a logarithmic spiral to ensure, that almost no light was wasted inside the lamp.At the same time giving the lamps an aesthetic organic look and a "sail" that reflects the light in a way that minimizes contrast with a dark background./Yours Søren MomsenIn 1998 Co founder with Alexei Iskos of the designgroup: Lysfortællinger/ Lightstories ______________________________________________________Bars23
