the MDB PROJECT MY ASS IS BACK!

About Me

, If you are looking for slick beats, over produced backing tracks, and a band with the average age of 17, you are at the absolute wrong destination! If you are looking for generic rock or metal, once again, you should exit immediately! What you have found is the all-time diamond in the rough! With his uncanny chameleon like musical approach, nothing seems to be out of his reach!Mark Damian Brooks was one of the founding members of the band “Mirror, Mirror” in 1996. With one demo and five gigs under their belt, they were discovered by Kenny Mednick (Journey, Robert Plant, Joan Jett) out of San Francisco. Two months later, Kenny brought in Bruce Cohn (Doobie Brothers, Night Ranger) to lead the management team. After financing one more demo of songs for the band, the management team of Cohn/Mednick got the interest of five Major Record Companies and a host of smaller ones. With the Record Label show case and bidding war right around the corner, what happens to most bands struck “Mirror, Mirror”! Due to internal problems that surfaced out of nowhere, some egos took over at absolutely the worst time! Mark was stuck in the middle of a power struggle between members that he had no control over. Stupidity reigned and the band was over.Mark pulled out the performance side of it for five years and became a sound engineer at the “House Of Blues” in Hollywood. Outside a few gigs here and there, Mark stayed out of the limelight. 18 months ago, Mark began writing and the creative bug has taken over completely ! Needless to say, he hasn’t looked back since! What Mark Damian Brooks is doing is recreating in his own terms the power and the glory of power music of the past and presenting it in a new, dynamic, and fresh way! With the heart and soul of the 70’s, the musical precision of guitarists such as Brian May (Queen), Randy Rhodes (Ozzy Osborne), Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), & Dimebag Darrel (Pantera), sonics of the millennium, and a stage show of concerts gone by, Mark Damian Brooks is kicking down the doors of mediocrity and ushering in a new force in the World of Power Music! With his new EP “Be Careful What You Wish For” finished, new songs in pre-production, and a smoking new, hot band, MDB with his take no prisoner attitude will be a musical force to be dealt with!

Band Members: Mark Damian Brooks.......... Trying to find the perfect fit: Drummer, Bass Player, & Keyboardist, All With Backing Vocals....................Line-Up On The CD: MARK DAMIAN BROOKS... All Vocals, All Electric Guitars, Bass Guitar, some Keyboards & Acoustic Guitar +++ DAVE DuCEY... Drums +++ ALAN OKUYE... Piano, Organ, & Synthesizer +++ JOE FIORELLO Primary Acoustic Guitar +++Mike Harrison... Percussion +++ ...................... The style will remain heavy. Each set of new songs will be a different variation of heavy music.... More harmony vocals will be introduced.... More acoustic guitars will be present.... Keyboards will take on a bigger role.... Lead vocal lines will be more melodic to drive the songs.... The goal is to be able to write in multiple styles, but have a distinct enough sound to be easily identifiable. Remember how Zep would do "Whole Lotta Love" and then do "Going To California"? Extremely drastic in approach, but both were totally Zep! That's the diversity that I am searching for!
Influences: Queen, Dream Theater, Pantera, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Return To Forever NIN, KISS, Pat Travers Band, Marylin Manson, Sweet, David Bowie, TNT, Three Dog Night, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Queensryche, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Randy Rhodes, Dixie Dregs, many others..............As any dedicated artist will tell you, an influence is an inspiration rather than an actual chord pattern or a flurry of notes! For me personally, while I'm writing a new song, sometimes I will try to approach a section how I think Brian May would, or maybe John Lennon! The above artists have all created music that is deep inside of my soul! The spirit of their music is part of the driving force that helps me to continue to come up with new material! I could list many more, but I think you get the idea!
Sounds Like: Enticing Rock/Metal Songs With A Semi Progressive Approach And A Strong Vocal Application.
