Success story in the making are the best words to describe Shanae Starnes. Shanae Starnes is an entrepreneur, mother, and eyelash specialist living her dreams. A native of Morristown, New Jersey, Starnes currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her two daughters NaKiya (age 15) and Jahmia (age 5).Starnes is the owner of Exquisite Lashes, a full service lash business, offering makeup and facial services to an elite clientele in the Southern Region. Her peers and colleagues describe her as a compassionate leader who is committed to others.Starnes has overcome many obstacles on her voyage. After graduating from East Mecklenberg High School (Charlotte, North Carolina) in 1991 she began pursuing her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Winston Salem State University. After her first year of college at age nineteen, she became a teenage mother who was unable to complete college. Never losing her passion for learning coupled with her desire to provide for her newborn; in 1992, Starnes a recipient of public assistance became enrolled in the Workforce program which paid for her to attain her secretarial science certification training from the Urban League of Charlotte.Using the skills obtained through the program by 1993 she had began her professional career at Allstate Insurance Company. In 1996, while working for Allstate she began a second career path by enrolling in Carolina Beauty College. By 1997, she graduated and was a full time licensed cosmetologist. Her salon experience included working at Shear Elegance Salon, Chantal’s Salon, and Magic Touch Salon.Starnes’ compassionate side was again evident in December of 1999 when she left Charlotte, North Carolina to return to New Jersey to care & offer her support to her maternal grandmother after her maternal grandfather passed away 1 month earlier.From 2000 to 2004 her strong customer service skills were of benefit during her work at Verizon Wireless Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Once again utilizing her skills from the Workforce Program she began a career with the Hartford Insurance Group in Charlotte, North Carolina. She remained with the company from 2004 to 2008. During this time, Starnes continued providing services to clients in the cosmetology field.Starnes’ background encompasses many successful pursuits including plus modeling and pageantry.Starnes is a self-starter, who has taken every opportunity to strengthen her background. Her current career incorporates her skills and life experiences.
