Just over a year ago, Buffalo, NY's THIS IS AN EMPIRE was formed with a desire to do something different. After building a strong local following, writing and recording countless songs, and touring nationwide for the past year, they truly are something new. The lines between music, art, film, and fashion are being blurred in our culture, and THIS IS AN EMPIRE is going to stay ahead of the curve. whether playing live as a band, producing songs, throwing parties or DJing, what we have is not a band.
THIS IS AN EMPIRE.

Police intervention. Empty bank accounts. Seemingly endless vehicle repairs. THIS IS AN EMPIRE has found a way to endure them all. Maybe hailing from Buffalo, NY has taught them to expect the unexpected, and to turn daunting situations into miraculous successes. The mere fact that This Is An Empire's crew of five has found a way to thrive through adversity is impressive, given the band's first show in their hometown marked day one of a grueling two month cross-country tour.
Formed only weeks before the band embarked on their maiden voyage across the United States, This Is An Empire - comprised of vocalist Adam Curtin, drummer Jay Podkulski, guitarist Matthew Zych, and bassist Dennis Ferry - has managed to travel tens of thousands of miles, build a dedicated fanbase in their home state, and set their sights high for the future since their June 2007 inception.
This Is An Empire has emerged from Watchmen Studios (Every Time I Die, Gym Class Heroes) and is ready to unleash new material on the world this spring, all while continuing to roll through whatever stands in their way as they reach their one-year anniversary this summer.
