New Music Nation

New Music Nation is a daily blog featuring album reviews , music news commentary and music information (including free, downloadable MP3s). The site is run by me, Dave Powers, long-time freelance music writer and former MTV, VH1 and MTV2 producer.
During my time at MTV2, I wrote and produced the weekly show 120 Minutes, which became Subterranean, an interview-and-video-clip-based show focusing on new and underground artists. I also wrote/produced shows such as Chart 2 Chart, a weekly look at the popular music charts, Hip Hop’s Toughest Rhymes, a series that spells out the fastest and most unintelligible lyrics of the genre, and Playlistism, an investigative show uncovering the musical playlists of a wide variety of celebrities and non-celebrities.
The majority of the content on my latest venture, New Music Nation, is written and posted by me, but the site also features regular submissions (album reviews, blog posts, charts, etc.) from college radio music directors and DJs from across the country. They can be found in the College Radio Buzz section.
Additionally, the site serves as a resource and database on music from this entire decade. I've written music reviews for underground Internet radio station 3wk.com and my former website, davepowersmusic.com, throughout the ‘00s. Plus, I've made best-of playlists in a variety of genres every year and written year-end Top 20 Albums columns . All are documented and fully searchable on New Music Nation .
