About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

Sarah was born into a musical family with her father in a well-known traditional Irish music band called Cruiskeen. She was sent to violin lessons at the young age of eight and became a member of the Dublin Youth Orchestra when she was ten, playing in the National Concert Hall Ireland, on occasion with the Orchestra.
Throughout her years in secondary school, Sarah and her two friends Catherine and Carol who also took music as a subject in school formed a trio and used to love working out harmonies in songs from R n’ B artists such as En vogue and Destiny child and singing them in three-part harmony. They performed on many occasion for the school.
Her father bought cubasis av (a music programme for computer) in 1998 and at the age of 16 Sarah used to enjoy producing tunes in Cubasis. She realised that she much preferred composing and producing 16-part tracks on cubasis than playing the violin so at the age of eighteen after honouring in her school leaving cert music exam playing the violin, she put the violin aside and continued to compose on cubasis.
In 2000 Sarah started an honours degree in Computer science and Spanish in University College Dublin. She discovered a polyphonic ring-tone composer on her mobile phone. Now the term Ring-tone for many is associated with internet-spam or the crazy frog, but for Sarah it carries a different story. She used to enjoy programming popular tunes into her phone in 16 parts or more (chosing a suitable instrument for each part) and sharing the ring-tones amongst friends and taking requests. It was her only way of keeping in touch with her musical side throughout her degree, as her music computer software was becoming out-of-date.
After graduating from University College Dublin with an honours degree in computer science and Spanish, Sarah heard about a Music and media technology masters course in Trinity College Dublin. When she heard that such a course existed she knew that she had to do it!! She knew having a career in the area of Music technology would be a dream come true as it satisfied both her love of maths (through drum and rhythm sequencing) and music. After handing in a mix of her ring-tones as a demo, she got herself a place on the course.
After completing a year of the course, she’s edited videos for some Irish artists, including rapper Rob Kelly and DJ Flip and she now concentrates on making her own backing tracks and making remixes for many artists. Making all of her tunes from scratch (without sampling anything), the only elements of her remixes that are not her own work are the acapellas (vocals) that she uses.
Sarah’s passion is for music with unpredictable syncopated rhythms and dynamic contrast and aims to incorporate these elements into her own music. She loves chopping up and editing audio waveforms to create new sounds and rhythms.
