Quit whining and fix it!

About Me

I'm busy, crazy, fun, analytical and moody. I try to be there for my friends whenever they need me. I spend a lot of time on my correspondence, but not a lot of time in person. Life is too busy for as much of that as I'd like.
My job is pretty stressful, so on evenings and weekends I usually just want to stay home and relax. But when I do get out on the town; look out! It's a no-holds-barred party!
The friends I spend the most time with (either online or in person) are those who want to improve their lives, or are happy where they are. If you're just going to complain about things, I'm probably going to avoid you. I have enough of my own stress, and I can't take too much of everyone else's. That doesn't mean you can't vent or ask for help. But if every message is negative, it will get really old really quickly.
Life is wonderful! If my glass is merely half-full, I'm obviously having a really bad day.

My Interests

I'm heavily into poker right now. Probably too heavily! But I'm having a good time and not losing, so I suppose it's not too bad of a hobby to have.I love to read. I'm learning to cook. I paint quite badly. ;-)

I'd like to meet:

(Borrowed and modified from a friend, because it was just so perfect)

PLEASE Don't Contact Me if:

1- You're looking for love. I'm very much in love already. I wish you the best in your search... elsewhere.

2- You're looking for sex. I'm female, straight, not terribly ugly, and not shy. If I feel like screwing around I can walk a block in any direction and find a guy who wants to get laid.

3- You've got 854 friends. Is being the 855th supposed to make me feel special?

4- You're a fake. I'm not here to shop, so if your whole purpose in adding me is to sell me stuff - save us both some time. Fish elsewhere.

5- You're a racist. Intolerance is intolerable.

Music:

Anything, depending on my mood. And, yes, I mean anything. Rap, country, classical, jazz, blues, raggae, disco, rock, punk, easy listening... My car right now has Eminem, Sting, Mozart, Paul Simon, and The Warren Brothers... just to name a few.

Sting on 6Lyrics.com ..

Movies:

Princess Bride
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Clerks
Shogun
Thornbirds
Aladin
Toy Story
Victor/Victoria
The Birdcage
Guys and Dolls
Dangerous Beauty
Memento
Shawshank Redemption
Any James Bond movie
most Disney or Pixar movies
... more to be added as I think of them!

Television:

I really don't watch TV. Too busy playing on the computer!
But when I do, I enjoy 24, Fear Factor, Sopranos, Travel with Rick Steves, Bob Ross, and various cooking shows

Books:

I love Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Historical Fiction (can't take too much of the real stuff), Classic Literature.

Actual books I love:
Ender's Game
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Belgariad
Jane Eyre
The Dune series by Herbert
The Caves of Steel and Foundation series by Asimov
anything by Dick Francis, Agatha Christie, or Robert Heinlein
a lot of classic children's books

I enjoy some really good "crap" now and then. Not "trash", necessarily. Sex in a book, if there for a reason and well written, is good. If it's just there for the sake of sex... that's a waste of sex! By "crap" I mean that while I enjoy good literature, I also enjoy pulp fiction sometimes. Sometimes I just want to be entertained.

Heroes:

My grandfather, My Dad's wife Sheri, Robert Heinlein, Ayn Rand.

Poker - Why do we bet?

It's not a new question, and I'm not offering a new answer.  I'm simply reminding myself of something important because sometimes I forget it. We bet for one of two reasons:1) To make a better ha...

Vegas - The good, the bad, and the ugly

I drove out to Vegas Friday morning and arrived about noon. I couldn't check into my room yet, so I decided (surprise) to find a table to kill time at. I was staying at the Tropicana, so started ther...

Attitude is Everything

Read today and wanted to pass it along (thanks to AJ for sharing it): There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. Well," she...

Bankroll management

How bad can a bad streak really get? Bad.  Really, really bad. Got pocket Aces 5 times in one 30 minute session, got all in pre-flop with 4 of them, all in on a safe flop on the 5th one.  Lo...

Poker thoughts: Is your luck really THAT bad?

I have 3 friends who have been complaining about their incredible bad luck at the tables lately.  They can't win a coin flip, they get sucked out on when they're way ahead, when they have a great...

Wealth and jealousy

Does my vote matter?

On my message board, we recently had a discussion about voting.  One of the participants said that he didn't vote because his one vote didn't make any difference anyway.  My response was to ...

Poker thoughts: NO ONE has a bigger stack, ever

Have you ever been intimidated by the HUGE stack of chips someone else at your table has?  (I'm talking about cash games here, not tournament games.)  I had an epiphany the other day, and th...
