Symbolia started as a trio without a name consisting of Dexter , Stephane and James , in September 2005. After almost half a year, they joined forces with Joo , on bassguitar.
Symbolia at that point, still being nameless, was an instrumental band when they wrote the song Silent Dance, which became the first song they played live at Mougins School.
Alex joined later in the year, after the band had listened to a demo recording she gave to them. She completed the formation with her voice and shortly after the band's name was fixed as Symbolia.
In July 2007, Joo left France to return to his native country, South Korea. The band was left without a bassist until a former "groupie", Couroche, saved the day by stepping in just 2 days before an upcoming gig. Originally being a guitarist, Couroche has made a stupendous effort for the band and has progressed incredibly since his debut as Symbolia's bassist.
The band has a very distinctive sound, for although they are musically "open-minded", Symbolia's music is unique and can be immediately recognized- anywhere at any time. The compositions vary widely, which makes it hard to classify the band as a certain genre but keeps the music fresh and the listeners entertained.
Even though the main ambiance is Rock, the band is not afraid to go deep inside the soul of Heavy Metal and dig out some fresh powerful melodic rhythms- or, on the other hand, create something peaceful and melancholic.
Symbolia is simply the combination of an enchanting classical voice with the astounding powers of Rock'n'roll!
