ALWAYS READY TO ROCK

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4CLASSICAL BACKGROUND: Recorder at age 3, moving on to the PIANO at 6 and also starting the VIOLIN at age 8. Taught myself GUITAR at 13 and did a summer season on violin with the Austrian Youth Orchestra at 14. Studied Violin at 'Musikhochschule Graz' - Age 14. Guitar lessons at Landesmusikschule Graz (with Prof. Heinz Irmler) - Age 15 Studying guitar at Music High school Graz/dept. in Oberschützen - Age 17 Teaching GUITAR at the Music-paedagogic-Highschool at the same time. DOUBLE BASS studies for 2 years with Professor AUERSPERG. FROM FOLK - TO ROCK - TO METAL: Joined "JIM COGAN" (Austrian POP star) for "JIM & ANDIE COGAN BAND" at 18, on VOCALS, GUITAR and VIOLIN - First playing FOLK, then COUNTRY & WESTERN Music. RELEASE of SINGLE on EMI GERMANY "Voulez Vous (me montrez Paris)" with Jim Cogan under the name of the Pop Duo "DESIRE, with plenty of TV and RADIO appearances. Joined "ORIGINAL SIN", an all female rock band, in 1990, first as bassist, then became lead vocalist/bassist. Recorded 4 tracks with "Bucks Fizz" producer. Toured North of England. Joined "SYMPHONY OF PAIN" as bassist and backing vocalist in the mid 90's. Joined metal band "FURNAZE" in 2001.First trip to London to buy a fretless bass at age 18. Decided to move to London for good at age 22. Started writing for GUITARIST magazine at the end of 1996 until 2003 Published "SIMPLY CLASSICAL" a collection of arrangements of popular classics for guitar in 2005.OTHER INFO: Mom was a violinist, all the family quite musical but to me it was always clear that I was going to sing and perform on stage. My wish of playing drums wasn't to be so the bass seemed the next best thing to be part of the Rhythm section. To this day, one can always find me at drum clinics and I absolutey love watching drum DVDs with lots of solos. With 'SYMPHONY OF PAIN, I had the great opportunity to play with a couple of fantastic drummers, first STEVE WASHINGTON and then with the one and only MARK MONDESIR, who both helped out a short notice when the original drummer was 'unwell'. Joining FURNAZE in 2001 was a dream come true as I had always wanted to play METAL! Some may find classical music and metal too far apart but to me it's like Yin and Yang. I have composed some pop songs yet to be converted to mp3 format and plenty of classical guitar pieces in the 7 years I wrote my 'Classical' column for GUITARIST.SPECIAL THANKS TO ALEXANDER WALLNER (www.alexanderwallner.com) for the use of his beautiful paintings to adorn the music samples on this site and to JAN CYRCA for his skillful recording and occasional backing music on the GUITARIST tunes.
