About Me

I made this layout with help from pYzam , Look at these other Layouts!
I changed my font at pyzam.com
I'm business manager of AS Office Solutions, a stationery retail business based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. I'm married, quite recently, to Sarah, and we live just outside of Leeds, but I'm too old to realise my dream of being a rockstar!!Therefore, instead of spending my weekends on a stage before the bright lights, I spend it with my friends slumped in the corner of the local pub deciding it really does need that extra lick of paint! I also enjoying going to gigs, from the local band trying to make it big in the back of some dingy pub through to festivals. I love music in all of it's guises but recently been listening to the likes of The Long Blondes, Charlotte Hatherley and Metric, although I enjoy most of the current alternative/indie scene. Also have a soft spot for the classic oldies, for example The Who. Anything with guitars and a bit of oomph really.Confession time: my favourite band are Marillion. Yes, they really are still going and I'm really looking forward to the new album. I'm also a qualified sound engineer. Like most failed rockstars I write songs (music and lyrics) that no-one will ever listen to, but I continue to do so on the off chance that one day someone successful will want me to write something for them. Well, you never know - I'm holding my breath (and going a dangerous shade of blue in the process!). To chill out I play the piano and indulge in a little keyboard sequencing. But I do have interests outside of music believe it or not. A major passion is reading. Also very fond of weekends away, bowling (don't want to get too over-active, mind)and I've just finished penning a novel; it's a thriller set in Japan. It's a bit of an epic and has taken me the last four years to complete. The good lady wife is in the middle of proof reading it for me, bless her soul! Of course, I've never even set foot in Japan, but as far as research purposes go I guess that's why they invented the internet! Having said that, I have travelled a lot but my favourite city of the moment has to be Venice. Maybe it's the food....?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Julianne Regan, she of hippy goth rock folksters All About Eve fame. A lovely, talented person; a musical genius with a gorgeous voice, and an equally gorgeous personality to match. The other other two people I'd originally set myself out to meet have been achieved: Steve Hogarth and Toni Halliday. And of course, I musn't forget Rothers - in my opinion THE best guitarist. No contest! There's more chance of me meeting my personal heroes than the big cheeses!

Music:

For those of you who can't be bothered to sit through the slideshow to see who I like, here's a list of some of the stuff I've been listening to recently: All About Eve: The Beatles: The Bluetones: Bob Dylan: Boy Kill Boy: Cowboy X: Curve: David Bowie: Dot Allison: Feeder: The Futureheads: Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly: Gossip: Guillemots: The Icicles: The Kills: The Long Blondes: Marillion: Maximo Park: Mazzy Star: Metric: Ocean Colour Scene: The Pipettes: Primal Scream: Queens Of The Stone Age: The Rakes: The Sisters Of Mercy: The Sunshine Underground: Shed Seven: Stereophonics: The Subways: Tanya Donnelly: The Futureheads: The Who: The Zutons: Charlotte Hatherley:

Movies:

Fave film is the original Highlander. Also got a lot of time for Hellboy, and similar horror/comic book style things. Musn't forget Bond of course.

Television:

Mainly just a few serials, most of which aren't even running at the moment - Doctor Who, Torchwood, Spooks etc. Oh, and Rockjaw on Rockworld TV. The funniest thing I've seen in ages!

Books:

Lots of Jack Higgins. And Fleming.Usually stuff that involves stolen nuclear weapons!

Heroes:

They're no longer with us so I have to say my mum and dad for giving me something to live up to.
