Acme Records was launched in the UK in 1993 as an independent record label. What was surprising about the label is that everything was released on the then defunct format of VINYL. Every chain shop across the world was saying vinyl was dead. HMV/Virgin etc stopped stocking vinyl. Acme knew better, and was one of the first labels to introduce 180 gram vinyl releases, which has since become a staple of many labels around the world.
Acme Records is currently home to the UK's legendary SUN DIAL.
Check out the trio of recently re-issued SUN DIAL titles on CD: "Shards of God" (retrospective compilation 1990-2005), "Libertine-deprogrammed" (1994) and "Acid Yantra" (1996). Essential for any fans of heavy guitar music. If you don't know SUN DIAL, then why the f**k not? "Alternative Press" in USA neatly sums the band up as "Pink Floyd meets Cobain's Nirvana". Check out the bands myspace as there's a brand new EP available only from the myspace site.
In addition the label has a separate reissue imprint, that has reissued long lost and classic albums too numerous to mention. For a full catalogue write to acme records po box 138 hastings TN34 3WJ UK
