About Me

To tell you the true I'm only here for the music. I came dancing out of the womb to Elvis Presley, well it was 1955! Music's been the core of my existence ever since, and its been a white knuckle ride. I was introduced to the New Musical Express in my early teens, and my musical tastes quickly broaden with the turn of each page. Arriving in London in the early 70's, just in time for the Pub Rock Sensation that was sweeping the nation. I found my first musical home in the Marquee Club, then moving onto the Nashville Rooms, Hope and Anchor, Half Moon Putney, Hare and Hounds and then a little later in the 70's the Music Machine and the Cricketer's. At the dawn of the 1980's the Flock of Seagulls where not for an ex pub rocker like me. So I found a new musical home to the Mean Fiddler, a little at the Powerhouse and the Weavers Arms and struck musical gold. By the late 1990's I finally found another spiritual home in Come Down and Meet the Folks, and what a crowd of great people and the music's good too I walked into. My spiritual journey continued taking me to the Tapestry Club and What's Cookin', well I'm in dreamland these days. I wonder where all the years have gone, and all the evenings trippin' the light fantastic. I guess most of them have been spent at gigs, dancing and in record shops...and I even found a little time to fall in love a few times! Some of the greatest gigs I've witness, include: Thin Lizzy (many times, especially Hanger Galway '71 and Victoria Palace '76) The Faces (three times, especially at Stoke Trentham Gardens '74) The Who (many times, especially 2 Charlton gigs) The Kinks (many times, especially White City'73) Chuck Berry (many times, espically at Buxton Festival'73) Led Zepplin (three times, especially Leicester University '71) The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (many times, especially at Buxton Festival '73) The Clash (many times, especially at Rainbow may '77) Johnny Cash (three times, especially at Mean Fiddler '85) Roy Orbison (Mean Fiddler '84) Iggy and the Stooges (Hammersmith Apollo 2005) The Monks (Boston Arms '86) ...and of course any Alan Tyler gig. Sadly I never got to see Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band or Elvis Presley, and I'm still waiting to see The Allman Brothers Band. I still love the atmosphere of live gigs, and guess I'll always will!Ten of my long list of favourite albums include: 1. The Who - Live at Leeds. 2. The New York Dolls - 1st Album. 3. The Louvin Brothers - Tragic Songs of Life. 4. Townes Van Zandt - Live in the Latin Quarter. 5. Lonnie Mack - Memphis Wham. 6. Mouse and the Traps - The Fraternity Years. 7.
