About Me

Thanks for coming to see my profile. I hope you make me your friend!!Well, it's May of 2008. Time really does fly! Josh has been out of high school for a year now and is attending the local university. He plays keyboard for worship every week at his church and he is an awesome, wise young person. I am VERY proud of him. Derek is about to be...eeeks...24 years old, and he is doing SO fantastic. He works at Nissan and has been "Salesman of the Month" at least 3 times in the last 12 months. He moved into a nice, new apartment with his beautiful wife Summer and they are doing great. Kelly went to Banquet last night, the Christian School equivalent of Prom. I know she is my daughter, but the girl is so gorgeous, she looked like she stepped out of a magazine last night! But better than that, she is a lovely, intelligent, kind person as well. She went with her friend Dustin who is a senior, and so she was in Senior Leadout, which was very special. Afterwards they went to Josh's girlfriend Jessica's house for a bonfire. Everyone had a wonderful time. John turned 15 this week! He is 6 ft tall now and is doing so well. He got an award at Banquet last night for Most Outstanding Athlete. The kid really is a star in sports. He is also a kind and caring person and a great help to me. Samuel was homeschooled all year long. Barry and Samuel have been having such a good time together in school and in general. Samuel is playing soccer and is very good at it. He is also getting in that 9 year old mode of having a mind of his own. He is a really beautiful, sweet person. Barry has been a pastor now for 2 years. He has developed soooo much and is becoming very proficient for someone without seminary training. He is one person I admire a great deal for always pushing past his comfort zone!! Today Barry preached on Proverbs 24: 'A just man falls seven times but seven times he rises again" It was one of those sermons that stick to you. Repeatedly in Scripture God comes to people and says Arise! Stand! Be resurrected! Christ speaks Life and Hope to us every day. I praise God for letting me in on little glimpses of the wisdom of the ages. I am doing fantastic right now too. GOD has given me soooo many opportunities lately to share His love and grace with others. I am doing a Ladies Bible study with a wonderful small group of ladies, as well as several other neat ministry opportunites. Thank you for coming to see me. I sincerely hope YOU are also prospering and walking in the truth. ***My name is Lori.I became a Christian in June of 1984 and God has not stopped working on me for one single day since. He invites YOU to come to Him too to be made new!

My Interests

I love to read...I love theology..having deep conversations with smart people...walking in the park...watching my kids play basketball...and soccer...and baseball...working around the yard especially when I have happy helpers..I actually enjoy writing papers...thats partly why I am still taking classes this late in my life.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to talk to C.S. Lewis's for a while...maybe he'd invite me to join the Inklings? I'd LOVE to meet G.K. Chesterton- I think he is one of the last century's best writers and when I read his work I always laugh at his great sense of humor...I would love to just visit with my family back in NY more often...and I would love to be able to see my Mom one more time.

Music:

I like many kinds of music..I like my son Josh's music, Jason Upton, Keith Green, praise and worship...

Movies:

I watched several movies in the last few years that each meant something to me. Thirteen Conversations About One Thing (What's important in life?) Good Will Hunting (too much cursing and some off color scenes, but the overall message of redemption and new beginnings is great) BraveHeart (When William Wallace yells "FREEDOM" at the end I am always moved!) The Patriot (Fighting for a noble cause no matter the cost inspires me) The Passion of the Christ (I cried from the very first scene till the last..awesome!)

Television:

Everybody Loves Raymond (My mom got me watching this and it is soooo funny)and the History Channel, But mostly though I do NOT like TV!!!!!

Books:

Mere Christianity~ C.S. Lewis Orthodoxy~ G.K. Chesterton Spiritual Direction~ Henri Nouwen Breaking Free~Beth MooreVictory over Darkness~Neil Anderson I have loved many many many books but nuthin' meets my awe inspiring Bible

Heroes:

I am inspired by people who believe in Truth and Liberty and Love and Goodness and sacrifice to see them happen. I love people who see the darkness but are wise enough to recoginize the Light that exists in the midst of it.
