My dad Mike was a Drummer,
he played Drums in several Rock'n'Roll Bands!
"The Sinners"
"The Nightriders"
"The Defiants"
and a Jazz band
"The Original Mojo Rythm Kings"
Playing venues like Hastings Pier, focusing mainly on the South Coast Worthing, East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne, Brighton and London, they were the backing band at many shows for Johhny Kid & The Pirates, Emil Ford & the Checkmates, and Even The Kinks.
The Sinners had an audition at the 2 Is Coffee bar in Soho and won a contract to Perform on the US bases in France and Germany the winning song was La Bamba, a song that we used to play was a novelty song it was extremely popular, "Mule Skinner Blues" performed by Eddie Seargent and his Brother.
The Sinners played on the USA Air and Army Bases, Chatteroux,Capsei,Chatterrault + Others hardly ever playing under thier own name, sometimes as the Jesters because groups just did not turn up! who were contracted to.
but as compensation they did get to meet the Hi Los and B'Bumble and the Stingers, who also were performing on the Bases.
Do you Remember Winkle Picker pointed toed Shoes, Brothel Creeper Shoes with thick Crepe soles, Long Draped Jackets with Velvet Collars, Duck Tail hair styles, Prom Queen Dresses.
Well Mike does, all those are from the early days of Rock and Roll.
His claim to fame is he was Kissed by BRENDA LEE in the back of a Rolls in Brighton, UK!
Oh the Glory Days!
Mike has days when he just has to have some Rock'n'Roll or RockaBilly we both love it, but Mike has been a Jazz Head since a lad and he has a extensive library of all his Jazz heroes and heroines check out his list
This is our selection of our favourites who satisfy or soothe our minds and souls, we have days when we need peace and then days when we want to raise hell, and we can find music just suits our mood.
