I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a doctor in the UK. In a slightly cynical phase overall at the moment; especially as good friends and colleagues are currently inexplicably unemployed. Still. I am lucky to have landed a great job out of this MMC debacle. Otherwise music and travelling are big interests.

My Interests

When I have time! Walking, travelling (I LOVE travelling, and airports!), reading, I want to get a bike.

I'd like to meet:

Olusegun Obasanjo, Nelson Mandela, Sharon Osborne, Martyn Joseph, Show Of Hands, Freddie Mercury, Some people from my past, Christian O'Connell, Chris, Brian and Roque, Geoff, Annabel and Tony, Ben Elton, Hugh Laurie, Michael Palin, Ty Pennington and the whole team, Bruce Parry A good man

Music:

Think Virgin radio plus some gems. Martyn Joseph and Show of Hands spring to mind. They are both brilliant. Must mention Amateur Transplants - bloody brilliant (not that I am biased!). And My Morning Jacket. Neil Diamond, Nick Drake. Dave Matthews Band. Jack Johnson. Evan Dando. The Eels. Counting Crows. Nu Folk baby;) I am loving Mika at the moment. A variety really. I am keeping an eye on Billy Redfield. TDC have some good tunes. Martin Sexton is v good indeed - saw him at a Martyn Joseph gig recently. Keep adding to this - Fever Tree is a new favourite I was lucky to see in Port Elizabeth - they rock! Check them out at myspace.com/fevertreeband. A new favourite is Midget & Giant. How could I forget Greenday!!!!!! New fab discovery - Sheedyfrost - they are brilliant. New discoveries courtesy of the brilliant Greenbelt - Duke Special and Michael Mcdermott - FAB!!!!

Movies:

Grosse Point Blank. Brilliant. The Life of Brian (what's so funny about incontinentia?). Priscilla Queen of the desert (a cock in a frock on a rock). Sister Act is a guilty pleasure. All the Die Hards - esp the 2nd. Anything involving submarines/spies/covert forces/Tom Clancey/cold war.

Television:

I guess my staples are Extreme Makeover Home Edition and America's next top model. House is absolutely brilliant. Friends of course;) Frasier is genius. Enjoying Tribe & Adrenaline Junkie 3 currently.

Books:

I read anything and everything. I always have my head stuck in a book. I don't even know where to begin here. Poisonwood Bible meant a lot to me. I love A Good Man In Africa by William Boyd

Heroes:

This is difficult. People are heroes for different reasons. I guess the people I'd like to meet are people who I think are important. Start with that. Minus some of the people from my past.

My Blog

Kenya

I am watching coverage of the violence in Kenya.  So awful and unspeakably sad.  I pray for all who have been attacked and killed, and for their family and friends.  I also pray that th...

Cool Old TV

Some genius telly is on at the moment.  And it is not moodily shot psychological thrillers about family breakdown, an expose of what it is really like to watch someone die or a sitcom about a gro...
