About Me

Hey yo! Dr Hitchcock here! Thanks for stopping by! I've been involved with heaps of different projects over the years. My main focus at the moment is being the Programme and Music Director @ RDU 98.5 FM here in Christchurch, New Zealand - RDU.org.nz - I also post my Friday Drive Show set lists and rants at the Starlifter Complex blog - http://starliftercomplex.wordpress.com I'm DJ-ing at heaps of gigs in August and September. I was also the head honcho behind the Mixtape Connection parties, gigs, podcasts and radio show.

The Mixtape Connection started out as an monthly Electro-Rock Club Night @ Capitol Bar in Christchurch, New Zealand around July 2005. Dr Hitchcock, Missy G, Indie Slut and Richard got this party started as a response to a nonexistent dance-rock scene. The Indie Kids had forgotten how to dance and that made Dr Hitchcock (The Mixtape Master) a sad panda! Over the next year and a half a radical mixture of disco-punk, electro, new-wave, indie rock, hip-hop, bootlegs, house, and 80s pop were played to thousands of party-peeps.
At the end of 2006, the Mixtape Connection club nights ended with a raucous Xmas Party. The Mixtape was then reborn as a podcast. Random parties and podcasts continued to roll both in Christchurch and Melbourne throughout 2007.
In this mighty year of our lord, 2008, The Mixtape Connection was relaunched as MixtapeConnection.Net or MXTPCXN.NET but was taken down 6 months later (along with our good friend Tom Cosm ) by Turkish Hackers who then proceeded to use the account that the site was associated with to hack into bank accounts in Europe. Another relaunch took place, this time as Starlifter Complex. Change is always exciting! Life is grand!
