About Me

Freedom
Music is the greatest, most mysterious thing a man can create from his own mind and body. It's a key. A key to the gate we all find ourselves locked behind sometimes. “I feel like I have all the freedom I need to express myself through music and nothing else gives me that freedom,” says Adkisson. His utter and pure passion for music shines through on every track he writes, and the freedom that he experiences through his art is a gift to his listeners. You find yourself captured as you experience music of this caliber, music that is alive and memorable. “Nothing else gives me the feeling of accomplishment or completion like when I’ve finished writing a song or playing for an audience.”
Confidence
“I believe if you don’t have confidence in yourself and your music then others won’t have confidence in you either.” This belief is obvious as Stetson embraces every song he plays. The musicians who put their heart and soul into their work; those who lay everything out in the open are the ones we tend to connect with it. It is this quality that helps make Adkisson’s music so attention-getting. His work is strong and bursting with personality. “As long as you write music from your heart and stay true to your own style and sound, then people will find a way to relate to and appreciate your stuff.” Honesty with one’s self is the other major trait Adkisson believes is vital for a songwriter. And that trait is found readily in Stetson and his songs.
Emotions
Life is what every musician eventually comes back to. Truly, it is life’s struggles and successes that provide the depths found in history's most influential and memorable songs. We connect with songs formed from life's reality; it's grit and beauty. Adkisson embraces life in all its colors for his inspiration. “Any emotion I feel, any relationships or experiences really don’t feel completed until I sit down, put chords and words together and paint the picture of those experiences or relationships. Then, to me, it feels complete.”
Song Work
Adkisson’s writing has been heating up lately and there’s plenty of material for a second album (and the debut album is brand new). The future looks good for him, to be sure. Stetson Adkisson puts chords and words together in an encompassing way that comes across as mellow and soft, yet at times raspy and coarse. He captures both the gentle and rugged sides of life in songs that resonate deep in the listeners soul.
Review
“Stetson Adkisson is the sign of the direction folk and country music should take and undoubtedly will. With him in the lead, music can only hope to grow richer and stronger.” – A&R Select
