About Me

I live in San Francisco. I'm 35. I like to write songs. Drink coffee. Indian food. Movies. Vinyl. These are the good things in life and I like them.
I have put together a band of local musicians that help me bring my songs to you in a live a scenario. Sometimes I play with a full rock band to play some of the more rocking tunes. Other times I play with a smaller acoustic lineup and we focus on the more folky stuff.
I have two albums out on the label Badman - Chemical Friends (2004) and Pressure (2007).
I write and record the songs myself, some times with a little help, like from Donny down at Center of the Mile Studio or from my friend Joe in the band Friends of the Jitney.
If you would like me to email you my tour dates and release information, please let me know by emailing me with the subject 'subscribe' at nyleslannon (at) yahoo.com
RECENT PRESS:
PASTE MAGAZINE (4 stars) - "A fascinating, alluring collection of songs...Anyone who is willing to take 11 pop songs as pretty as these and submerge them so far into the ether is either a genius or sociopath. Pressure gently sucks you straight into Lannon's universe, his pastoral voice billowing under soft blankets of acoustic guitar and drum machine."
LA TIMES - "Pressure is one of the best, and most subtle, pop albums of 2007."
EARFARM - "A pop music love potion... a touch of pop, a touch of rock, a pinch of psychedelia, some folk, some electronic influence, all mixed together seamlessly... I love it."
AMERICAN SONGWRITER - "Masterful bedroom folk-pop...What sets Lannon apart is his knack for incorporating swirling psychedelic and electronic elements with stripped down folk, without overshadowing what's most important: the songs. Lannon certainly makes a big impression and he very well might be your next obsession if you give him a chance."
HARP MAGAZINE - "Early Spiritualized comes to mind on spacey, orchestral-like cuts like “Crash Landing” or “Slipping,” while “Next Obsession” comes closer to Ex-Film School Nyles Lannon’s often cathartic, full-band rock shows. Still, it’s gorgeous acoustic laments like “Better With Nothing” or “Hesitation” that best fit Lannon’s lonely narratives, comfort songs for broken-hearted (or soon-to-be) lovers lost in the circular obsessions of relationship hell."
"One of the best of 2007" - CULTURE CATCH , BAYBRIDGED.COM , ANN LITT (KCRW)
DAILY BRUIN - "Pressure is a blend of fantasy and reality where interplanetary sounds combine."

Album done. Need band.

That was crazy. I was up all night before sending the record off to be mastered, still making tweaks an hour before! Sometimes home recording gets a bit obsessive. Anyway, the thing is finally done. I...

a day away from mixing

So now I am thinking I will only mix songs with live drums at my friends studio, not the whole record. That gives me a few extra days to finish everything at home before my mastering deadline. I feel ...

damn. I love it and I hate it. Recording can be the most tedious thing that one can ever do. Over the last month I have widdled down a crazy amount of ideas to 13 songs, which is still too long for a...
