New Mexico

The Land Of Highway Construction

About Me

New Mexico joined the Union on January 6, 1912 as the 47th State but has a long and colorful history that is beyond the scope of this little myspace page.

Mostly, NM is just a little backwater state that most people forget exists and that is just fine with me. If you come to NM, you can get all sorts of fun souvenirs such as Yersinia pestis, the Hantavirus, and any of the other little nasties that exist in this state. You can also get eaten by the various fauna that live here, and there are a lot of rocks to fall off of.

Our capitol is Santa Fe and our largest city is Albuquerque. People have all sorts of colorful nicknames for both of these towns and for our state in general, such as Fanta Se, Burque, and the Land of Entrapment.

NM also has a lot of sun (and melanoma if you forget your sunscreen), some oil, a few state universities, a bunch of mountains, and a smattering of lakes. There are numerous opportunities to have outdoor adventures in NM, and there is a much deeper culture here than I suspect most people realize.
An in depth look at New Mexico can be found here: http://www.50states.com/newmexic.htm

My Interests

The sun, droughts, the Rio Grande, roadrunners, yucca flowers, Ophiostoma, stupid bark beetles, Route 66, Bill Richardson's diet, orange barrels, green chile (Capsicum annuum), lowriders, pick up trucks, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'd like to meet:

People who live in NM, who have lived in NM, or who want to live in NM. If you dislike NM, go find another state like MA or CT to drool all over.

Movies:

Stuff filmed in NM, unless it really sucked, then let's just forget it ever happened.
