Growing up if I wasn't in school or playing ball, I was listening to music. I regret not picking up the guitar until I was seventeen, but as soon as I could put a few chords together I started writing songs. Like most song writers I thought every song I wrote should be on the radio and when that didn't happen I soon got frustrated and laid the guitar down.
A few years later after having a conversation with my good friend/artist Brennan Gaves about music, I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote a song called "Lazer Gun". It was a song inspired by an Alan Jackson song "www dot memory". His song got me thinking of mixing traditional country lyrics with the future. So naturally I woke up and wrote a song about a hard working ol boy catching his wife cheating, and blowing the lazy dog away with his new LAZER GUN. Anyway this song is important because it moved me closer to Nashville's inner circle. It was my first stepping stone song.
Lazer Gun got the attention of my good friend Kenny Lee, who is a musical genius. Kenny mentored me and helped inspire me to continue writing, and together we wrote and recorded many a song in his home studio.
The next stepping stone was a song called "Hard Country" Kenny and I wrote. Johnny Cash's lyric "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" inspired the song which included everything hard country to me- getting fired, getting drunk, shooting a cheating wife and her lover, hopping a train, and dying
"Hard Country" led me to the wonderful Barbara Cloyd. Barbara has helped more song writers than can be counted. She helped open many doors and helped give me credibility as a song writer. Now day's I'm having a ball making new friends and playing writer nights and shows in Nashville.
Every once in a while I write a song that seems to advance me further toward a hit. But I've come to realize that even if I never see my name on CMT, that my dreams have come true because I've been able to share my songs that will live forever with family, friends, and fans. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
