Born and raised in Iowa. Lived briefly in Twentynine Palms, California for a few years when the kids were babies and my then husband was in the Marines Corp. Once I returned to Iowa I vowed to not leave again. I'm a proud Iowa girl thru and thru BUT I do bitch alot about the Iowa weather : )David and I met in Yahoo chat back in 1998 in a 30somethings chat room. Yup we're OLD SKOOL chat folk.
Ater a year of flights and lots of $$$ being spent going back and forth from England to Iowa we decided to get married. We were married onBetween the 2 of us we have 4 kids. D.J. is 23, Sierra is 21, Tyler who prefers to be called "Hank" is 14 and Dan who is 12. Dan lives back home in England with his mom and family. He does get to come for visits twice a year and we try to get back to England when we can. I wish more then anything we had big money so we could live there... but that's not happening.We live in a big green house. In a teenie tiny village. Population of about 730 or so. We have a lot of pets. Fish, birds, dogs, and one evil little kitten that I rescued from work (in the can redemption building) which we have named Corona ( I was sorting out Corona beer bottles when I found her). Corona was extremely ill when we eventually got her to our house. You can read one of my blogs for the icky details but after several treatments of antibiotics she's finally healed and doing VERY well! She has quickly become a very sweet lil family member.
I love anything "fae". I collect fairies. My favourites are the ones that I brought home from England, the ones that Fran has sent me from England and the one that my stepson Dan brought me from England as well. And I think this is one of the cutest little fairies I have seen in a very long time : )I have worked with people who have mental and or physical disabilities for the past 11 years. I work with them in their homes as well as at their place of employment. It can be extremely stressful at times and I have also learned thru the years that it can be EXTREMELY emotional....but there isn't anything else that I would rather do. If there is ONE thing in this world that makes me FURIOUS(other then stepping in something wet with my socks on!) that is hearing someone throw the "R" word around (that would be 'retarded'). I know alot of people don't understand this but I find it highly offensive. If this is a word that you use often in your vocabulary there is no need to get in touch with this chick. These people are the most loving and caring individuals that you could ever be fortunate enough to get to know. My life has been greatly enriched by my work and I'm very thankful for the job that I have.

Do me a favour. The next time you are out and about in the community and you see someone coming towards you that appears "different" to you.... please don't turn your head and look the other way... .please smile and say hello. These people DESERVE this from you!!!!I love a good old fashioned Iowa thunderstorm!!!! David and I have been known to stand outside and watch the tornado clouds form and move across the sky ( we keep at a safe distance tho!) That's probably my favourite part of the spring and summer. Love love love love LOVE the storm action!
