------------------------------------------------------------ ------
It is no secret what compels Michele Karmin to write. She is a sponge to emotion and a spectator of life moved by the plethora of loves, losses, trials and triumphs it bears. Time and change are reoccurring themes in her music and feed much thought into the message of every original piece.
BIO
Michele Karmin has lived in South Jersey for most her life. Growing up in a woodsy town with not much to do but build forts and ride bikes, Michele spent most of her time singing and rehearsing with her mother and four siblings for upcoming shows. At the age of three she sang for her first audience and as the years went on she continued to fill her plate with talent shows, pageants, plays, choirs, churches, and singing the national anthem.
Michele began writing music and poetry by the age of twelve and started to record at makeshift studios by the age of fifteen. Her first recording began in a highschool music room with a local well-known rapper, B-Roc. Michele and B-Roc recorded several songs over the few years they worked together. This initial step in her career helped her to acheive a new sense of determination and spirit to continue pursuing this passion.
After high school, a move to Manhatten grabbed the attention of New York City agent, Dorothy Palmer, where Michele took on her acting and music career simultaneously. Within two weeks she landed a spot on season one’s "Making of The Band" with P. Diddy. Michele worked with the show for the next couple weeks until a previous music engagement forced her to leave. At that time she continued to work on her music with artists, producers and a local band in NYC but had been receiving more acting opportunities. Shortly after, Michele had been placed in an episode of the TV show "Ed" playing the part of "Super Frankie".
With much time and experience in New York, Michele decided she was ready to move back home. After getting a job at a local bar she met opportunity every day. Constantly running into people of the music world led her to a partnership with Ajodah, Ralph Jennings, and Mike Cappozolli, all who produced the first demo. They worked with the young artist for over a year, producing her originals and some cover pieces. This eventually guided Michele to her first show in NYC at a premier party for James A. Ruggerio’s "Fantastiks" film.
After taking some time off from the studio, Michele started working with another producer, Steve Childs from "Musically Speaking Productions". Steve initially served as Michele’s vocal coach and shortly after began producing her original music. In less than a year Michele had finished several songs with Steve and started to look for more ways to get her voice out. Towards the end of 2005 Michele joined a cover band called "Lipstick", in which she performed everything from Aretha Franklin to Radiohead at local venues. With much time focusing on her first original project, "A Reason" Michele opted to leave the band. Michele went full force into finishing her first original CD and released it in March 2007 directly following the release of her Christmas EP in December of 2006.
You can catch Michele in the film, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" NOW ON DVD featuring Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Jessica Beil.
"The sadness we experience in this life is by pure default. Learning how to surpass fear, anxiety, and hardship through expression is the greatest remedy to what we cant prevent. Sharing those experiences is the best way to make up for the time we cant take back." -MK-
