Lorne Street Preacher

Nothing to eat, freezing cold and now a madman on the prowl outside with eels.

About Me

Once I passed the age of 40 became seemingly incapable of original thought, action or creativity. Instead of wasting my life away as a teenage poet and failed rebel, have now discovered that true fulfilment lies in purchasing new furniture, pottering in the garden and having a better car than the neighbours. No longer do I dream of overthrowing the system, becoming a tortured yet respected musician, or writing the great novel that is within us all, no. Now my ambitions largely consist of living long enough to enjoy a lazy retirement, where I fully intend to wear a flat cap, become incontinent, and drag myself down to the local each lunchtime to spend 3 hours over a half of mild while smoking a pipeful of Dutch Shag while, at the same time, appearing quite creepy and strange and smelling of cabbage. Except now of course the pipe smoking in the pub ain't going to happen, the swines.

My Interests

Spend far far too much time farting about on the internet and playing computer games than can possibly be healthy for a man of my age. Plus, the pub interests me greatly. Oh and Port Vale football club, eating oatcakes, eating everything, abusing my cats, SMOKING (yes, I know), and trying to avoid respectability while at the same time embracing it.

I'd like to meet:

Myself, about 25 years ago. I'd give myself a good kicking, frankly.

Music:

When I'm in an old punk mood: Pistols, Green Day, Buzzcocks. When I'm in an old hippy mood: Tull, early Genesis, Mostly Autumn, Gong. When I'm in a smelly old greebo mood: Motorhead, Sabbath, System of a Down, Led Zep, Rush, Hawkwind. In any and all moods: Zappa, the legendary John Otway, Mozart, Kate Bush and of course all my lovely myspace friends, all wonderful people, click on their heads and listen to their noizes.

Movies:

Its a Wonderful Life, Laurel & Hardy stuff, Withnail, Python, Spinal Tap, and the James Bond theme still gives me a tingle. Recent stuff - Babel, Prestige, Last King of Scotland, World's Fastest Indian, all get the CB seal of approval. Get down to the Ritz in Belper, best cinema in the western world, big sofas and bottles of wine!

Television:

Sadly, everything I watch seems to be from the US of Stateside, with the honourable exception of MOTD & Top Gear... so its the Simpsons, South Park, Lost, Nip/Tuck and thats about it really

Heroes:

Anyone who has the sense and the balls to reach for their dreams in exactly the way I didn't has my undying respect

Just a little weird something ...Almost exactly 30 years ago, I bought my first single. Yes I really am that old. Now, when I say my "first single" I'm not counting other records I may have bought as ...
