There's Only One Way To Rock!

About Me

What others have to say:
“This is a real Americana hour…sturdy, energetic, & bluesy…some tracks even find themselves between the musical styles we already know…David knows exactly what he is doing.” -InsurgentCountry.net
“He is extremely passionate about his work, obviously taking the time to find the exact sounds he wanted…He uses so many styles, it will be interesting to see which one he decides on, but it’s a sincere effort from a Seattle musician with a big upside.” -HeroHill.com
“…he has sure packed in his mastery of several key American styles. No relation to the Hillmans of Byrds and Burritos fame, he, like those bands, brings an energetic and authentic mix of traditional and rock styles that is the real deal…Americana Hour is a smart brooding thing full of good old American schizophrenic love of making a sonic stew.” - Music Emissions.com
"Het uitstekende zangwerk van David Hillman doet bij mij dan weer herinneringen opflakkeren aan de beste Ryan Adams ten tijde van Whiskeytown." - RootsTime.be
David Hillman is an honest to god gentleman.
Show up on the doorstep of his Seattle home, and he'll invite you in and offer you a drink. Bring him a gift, and he'll make sure you don't leave emtpy handed. Win a bar bet, and he'll pay up quicker than you can say, "I told you so!"
David's solo debut, Americana Hour, is just as generous and inviting as the man himself. David and his gang sound like your best friend’s band; the one you always wished you’d be invited to play in. You can play tambourine, right? And there are plenty of “la la la” choruses to sing along on. It’s a musical house party, and the whole neighborhood’s invited. Come on over, there’s always room for more.
David's story-songs range from romantic to sinister to outright silly, but you’re always smack dab in the middle of them. Americana Hour takes you on a dusty backroads drive through American musical history. You land at a friend’s house, well past midnight, when the guitars come out and you’re serenaded with preposterous tales of pyromaniacs in love, cowgirls and gunslingers. Twangy bar blues filters out of an after-hours club. Inside, the lovelorn drown their heartache in whiskey and cigarettes, while jilted lovers lurk in dark corners with murder on their minds. Maybe you head in, or maybe you walk on in the early morning fog, to the tune of an irresistible waltz, dancing with your lover all the way to the moon. At an afternoon barn dance, you swing your partner ‘round a joyful ode to a beloved fishing spot, while fiddles and guitars play off each other in the brilliant sunshine.
Americana Hour is the soundtrack of lazy summer afternoons on back porches and late nights wandering deserted city streets, of dim saloons and endless train tracks. David Hillman is one hell of a tour guide. If you happen to see him out there on the road, buy him a drink or two. He’ll tell you stories, he’ll make you laugh. If you keep him around long enough, he might even clean out your ice box making you some Midnight Pasta!
