Useless facts and trivia, japanese dramas, korean dramas, art, magic realism, my adorable & frustrating Japanese boyfriend, cooking, cooking, cooking, spending money I don't have, tofu, cussing like a sailor, southern drawls, movies that make me cry. I would love to meet Esther Shimazu:
What a question. Gabriel Garcia Marquez. And other people with funny accents. Joe Odagiri because he's beautiful. Please don't add me to your friends just because you want to look cool and have 735 friends. I like hearing from old friends and people that are sincerely interested and interesting.
HELP SEND MARY TO KOREA!
Basically anything that is confessional and moody: Currently I'm obsessed with Band of Horses! Also, Jeff Buckley, Vampire Weekend, The Kills, Santogold, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Shins, The Decemberists, The Cranberries, Camera Obscura, The Smiths, Azure Ray, and The National. Anything else that lets me shake my "junk in the trunk" and do the Mary dance is great too.
All time favorite movie is "Last of the Mohicans" - it's a gorgeous movie. The Godfather (I and II, forget III), The Seven Samurai because Al Pacino and Toshiro Mifune are gods. La Strada by Fellini is amazing.
Reaper, Supernatural, Dexter, and that's about it on a regular basis.
Ok, since I worked in a bookstore(s) for about 8 years- here are a few that everyone should read: One Hundred Years of Solitude (magical), IN THE FALL by Jeffrey Lent (heartbreaking), my personal favorite. White Teeth by Zadie Smith, Everything by Cormac McCarthy-The Road, All the Pretty Horses, No Country for Old Men. The Otori Series by Lian Hearn - a fantasy series set in feudal Japan. The Nightside series by Simon Green- pure fun. Also, I have been reading smutty romance novels since I was in 6th grade - Linda Howard, Anne Stuart, and Lisa Kleypas.Word of warning: The Kite Runner is one of the worst books. Ever.
People with real jobs. And benefits. And perfect credit.
