Seit Oktober 2006 veranstaltete das Beat-Street Collective in der Trompete Konzerte, Lesungen und Tanzveranstaltungen in den Räumen des ehemaligen Domizils am Lützowplatz, der Spielstätte des legendären Wolfgang Neuss in Berlin-Tiergarten.
Die Trompete-Gründer Ben Becker, Dimitri Hegemann und Sören Röhrs freuten sich über neuen Schwung, welcher über ein Jahr lang Künstler aus aller Welt nach Berlin brachte.
Nach einer kurzen Stippvisite im Neuköllner Weserstraßen-Idyll "Ä" beginnen wir das neue Konzert-Jahr im "Kuschlowski" - ebenfalls in der Weserstraße. Ist halt so schön nah ... ;-)

The WRONGKONG idea came to life during the recording sessions for the third Strike Boys album â€zPlaytime“ (Stereo Deluxe, 2004) when Cyrena Dunbar sang the vocal lines for â€zFind My Way“ and â€zOuter Space“. What started as rather aimless and laid-back jamming in the Nuremberg studio, soon led the three on to a colourful playground with never thought of possibilities. The strong presence, and new inspiration of Cyrena, tickled a side which so far only slumbered somewhere in the minds of Strike Boys Tommy Yamaha and Martin Kaisa. Every artist dreams of writing at least one great song – and all of a sudden Wrongkong had ten of them! Back in the days as little girl, singer Cyrena Dunbar dreamt of getting on stage. She put aside her foremost dream of becoming a singer, in favour of her career as a ballet dancer. After her training at the Alberta Ballet School of Dance she got her first job as an aspirant dancer at the Alberta Ballet where she stayed from 1996-1999. Her strong determination to stand in the limelight took her to Germany, where she has been performing as a solo artist in several productions with Ballet Nuremberg since 2002. Most songs, therefore, had to be recorded during her 4 hour lunch breaks! Tommy Yamaha and Martin Kaisa recorded most instruments such as guitars, bass and keyboards on their own. But they also took advantage of their experiences as the Strike Boys producers, and modulated, or otherwise distorted the arrangements. The result? Deepness and sharp edges to get the listeners hooked. Wrongkong immerse into a world of beautiful and touching music, well-balanced between grace, defiance, and bitter-sweet pain. As lead singer of the band, the somewhat shy Cyrena Dunbar explodes and creates a fascinating mixture of yearning desire and exuberant energy, perfectly corresponding with the dynamic structures of Tommy Yamaha and Martin Kaisa. Wrongkong doesn’t heat up worn song patterns, but keep on surprising, with changes in speed and refreshing electronic elements. Take â€zWe Sleep Together“, where guitars meet deep bass lines and echo effects. The resulting wall of sound powerfully nestles in your auditory canals. With â€zBlackboard Sky“ the album features a cover version of a song by Wall of Voodoo who in the 1980s next to label mates R.E.M. were hailed as leading New Wave band. All other lyrics have been written by Cyrena Dunbar who at the age of 13, started to write her first songs, timidly performing them in Canadian rehearsal rooms. The beautiful ballad â€zHiding“, counter-acted with disruptive electronic arrangements, showcases her melancholic touch. In â€zPlayer“, a song which takes off slowly and dreamily, Cyrena transforms into a lascivious and challenging young woman, adapting a role which she fills out with even more alluring appeal in the disco-infected â€zReal Boy“. â€zQuality Retriever“, a song about music as her great love, is the expressive singer’s favourite piece, which reveals the full range of her voice, and as she suggests, has to be savoured at maximum volume. The last chorus sees Yamaha and Kaisa kick down the accelerator and deliver some breathtaking production. In â€zCatch up“ the two producers flirt even more ostentatiously with the dancefloor while Miss Dunbar pushes the fascinating arrangement further with a battle-like â€zyou better catch up to me“. The debut album of Wrongkong is an outstanding contribution to the ongoing re-definition of pop music. Cyrena Dunbar excels with her vocal and songwriter skills rooted in the American tradition, and is by far not the first exciting Canadian artist of the past years. Tommy Yamaha and Martin Kaisa once more justify why they are considered one of the most renowned producers of electronic music (especially in the UK) since their Strike Boys debut album â€zSelected Funk“ (Wall of Sound, 1998). Wrongkong’s mixture of Canadian rock music and European club culture is truly unique and should catapult them soon into top regions.
Being In A Boygroup ! Tommy Yamaha and Martin Kaisa are THE STRIKE BOYS and as such they have never been friends of one-dimensional grooves. Already their magnificent eclectic debut “Selected Funks� (which was released on the ground breaking breakbeat label Wall of Sound in 1998) leads from old school electro to digital-dub and soul/funk. A mixture in which they combine superb guest-vocals that transform their tracks into catchy hits with fresh melodic style. Since then they kept their mix of genres as a trademark. Also on their second album “Grapefruit Flavoured GreenTea Time� and on their last masterpiece “Playtime� The Strike Boys stroke against any border and so they fuse reggae, funk, breakbeat, house and electro in their unique way. The roots of their tracks have been mostly dub, with heavy hitting bass pressure that gives a kind of signature to the two boys from Nuremberg. For this, the club goers love them all around the planet from China to America. Their singles went to the top of the dance charts in diverse countrys and their remixes for artists like Bounty Killer, Tom Jones or Carl Douglas showed how well they can work an original sound into a inimitable Strike-Boys-Tune. Now the South-German studio nerds catch new adventures with their fresh album “Being In A Boygroup�. They fire the dance floor with synthetic beats, dirty indie rock-hooks, rough screams and cool digital grooves. For this they write POP in big letters and even Strike Boy, Tommy Yamaha, for the first time in the long history of the duo, grabs the mic. But it is not only his timbre that elevates the compact energising tracks to something more then just an ordinary functional club track. Also guests like Thomas Lang, singer of the German indie rock sensation The Robocop Kraus, Earl Zinger (the man also known as Rob Galliano) and Chris Corner, charismatic front man of IAmX, transform the tunes with their vocals to songs that last longer than a club season. All this on top of a wild mixture of rhythms winding between disco, electro, house, rock and even a little reggae-riddim. As a boy-group you should have more then one facet to keep your style fresh and irresistible. This is now the fourth time that The Strike Boys have achieved this in their own eclectic modern musical language.

On stage the impressive potential of dr.norton becomes totally clear. After more than 200 shows dr.norton have proven to be an exciting live band. Their musical roots can be found partly in those bands they’ve already been on stage with – i.e. The International Noise Conspiracy, Tigerbeat, Superpunk, Trashmonkeys, Die Sterne, Gods of Blitz or the German cult band Fehlfarben.
2006 set the ball rolling: Next to a great number of concerts dr.norton performed as live band in the movie â€zDas Wilde Leben“ (Warner Bros. Pictures), a biography of Uschi Obermaier (in theatres February 2007). During the second half of the year the band worked on new songs and recorded them at Rekorder Studio , Hamburg together with Gregor Hennig (Tigerbeat, The Robocop Kraus, Die Sterne). The final mastering was done by Chris von Rautenkranz (Blumfeld, Franz Ferdinand, Die Sterne, Oma Hans).

Was sind wir froh, dass es Jason Anderson gibt. Der Glaube an die positiv Verrückten im Unterhaltungszirkus war beinahe erloschen. Überall gelackte Affen, Leute mit Konzepten, durchgestylte Bühnenshows. Und dann eben dieser Wandergitarrist aus New Hampshire. Der braucht nicht mal eine Bühne. Leute wären schön. Der Aha-Effekt ist in der Gemeinschaft einfach größer, wenn man plötzlich bemerkt, dass es beim Musizieren nicht nur ums Geldmachen geht, sondern auch um Vermittlung. Es werden Geschichten erzählt, Stimmungen verbreitet, Emotionen ausgetauscht. Musik ist Kommunikation. Nicht gewusst? Siehste: Wissen macht Ahhh! Und um den Wissenszuwachs nicht zu unterbrechen, sei hier noch vergewissert: und das ist fucking independent, alter! Nicht das unter dem »Indie«-Logo fungierende Geschrabbel im Nachmittagsradioprogramm und auch nicht was auf den Buttons deiner älteren Schwester klebt. Nö. Und weil das so ist, veröffentlicht Jason Anderson auf dem US-Independent-Label schlechthin, nämlich Calvin Johnsons K Records. Auf dessen letzter Platte hat Mr. Anderson übrigens auch mitgewirkt und Tilly And The Wall auf deren letzten beiden Touren supported. Jason Anderson arbeitete außerdem bisher mit verschiedenen Künstlern zusammen, wie etwa als Schlagzeuger für die Bands Yume Bitsu, The Microphones und Tiger Saw. Unter dem Pseudonym Wolf Colonel brachte er mehrere Singles und zwei Alben raus. Mittlerweile veröffentlicht er allerdings auch unter seinem eigentlichen Namen, Jason Anderson. Jason Anderson hits Berlin auf seiner mitlerweile jahrelangen Tour durch die ganze Welt …
Jason Anderson has been around. He’s been the drummer for Yume Bitsu and the Microphones; he’s played piano for David Dondero, and recorded with Mirah, Calvin Johnson and the Blow. He’s toured with Kimya Dawson, Mark Robinson, Little Wings and Saddle Creek’s Son Ambulance; since 2002 he’s spent twenty-five months on the road and has released several records on K-Records (Kimya Dawson, Calvin Johnson, All Girl Summer Fun Band…) as well as on Secretly Canadian (Songs Ohia, Antony and the Johnsons…).
With a seemingly insatiable appetite for travel and music, Jason is a true wandering troubadour, playing anywhere and everywhere, from backyards to parking lots, art galleries to ice cream parlours, big clubs to bedrooms.
His commitment to travel and the idea of “life as tour� has created a community where the line between friend and fan is blurred. The shows are participatory, intimate exchanges of humanity and joy. Everyone seems to leave inspired and uplifted, most of all Anderson himself. It’s exciting to see someone who believes so much in music and the potential it has to bring people together. Transcending the postures of “indie rock,� Jason’s singalong folk anthems break down all lines between performer and audience, and make concerts fun, exciting and revelatory again. Finally!

Lässige Jazz- und Latingrooves laden ein, Zustände von Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit zu genießen. Hinter Daniel Devas neuem CD-Projekt stehen über 20 Musiker aus Berlin, Hamburg und Frankfurt am Main.
Der Komponist, Sänger und Musiker Daniel Deva arbeitet seit 1999 an dem Projekt silence est la nouvelle force! und lädt am 22. Juni 2007 in die Trompete, um die CD in Berlin vorzustellen und einige Stücke daraus live vorzutragen. Er wird dabei von hochkarätigen Musikern der Berliner Jazzszene sowie Gästen aus anderen Städten unterstützt. Der Schwerpunkt der CD silence est la nouvelle force! liegt beim Jazz mit seinen verschiedenen weltmusikalischen Einflüssen, von Lateinamerika bis Indien. Soulfunk-, Bossa Nova- und Latin-Rhythmen wechseln sich ab mit gefühlvollen Pop- und Bluesballaden. Tanpura- und Sitarsounds sind ebenso zu hören wie Sprechgesang und pulsierende Drum-Loops von DJ Greg Phillips.
Nach dem Konzert legen DJ Greg Phillips und Beatnik 74 tanzbarste Electro- und Exotic-Grooves auf.

Vier Verfremder.
Ein Meer aus Kabeln, Drehpotis, Tasten und schweren analogen Instrumenten umgibt die Band und lässt ihre Bühne wie ein Laboratorium aussehen. Ihr unwirkliches, abstraktes aber immer treibendes Spiel mit Stimme, Instrument und Technik lässt eine Atmosphäre entstehen, die Gänse zu Haut werden lässt.
Das Quartett spielt seine Songs mit den Mitteln von Jazz, Electronica und gebrochenen Beats. Mit offenen Stimmungen halten Pentatones die Spannung, als hätten sie schon etliche Film Noir-Movies gedreht. Hört man zu, hält man inne, spätestens nach wenigen Takten. Wie geht's jetzt weiter? Und woran liegt's?
Auf der Bühne fließen wie selbstverständlich bewegte Bildcollagen, ähnlich fragil und verstörend, in das Musikgeschehen mit ein. Dort spielen Pentatones ihr Set mit Kontrabass, Synthesizer, Sampler, Vocals, und einem Fender Rhodes Piano. In die Livesampler wird dabei nicht bloß Delhias Stimme gejagt und geloopt, sondern was immer die Situation gerade erfordert. All das wird Teil eines lässigen Vorwärtsdrängens des Sounds, angeschoben von Songstrukturen ebenso wie von Improvisation. Die Visual- und Audio-Nerds Pentatones lieben aufwändige Inszenierungen dieser Musik, etwa in Zusammenarbeit mit Theaterhäusern, wie dem Deutschen National Theater in Weimar oder der Bremer Shakespeare Company.
Nach verschiedensten Experimenten mit unterschiedlichen Ansätzen, Musikern und Instrumenten haben die Pentatones nun in der Besetzung mit Delhia, Hannes, Albrecht und Schnigg ihr Wesen gefunden und arbeiten gerade intensiv an einem ersten Album.

Durch die Scannerinstallation "Manoli Simulscan" und ihre phantastischen Echtzeit Collagen haben sie nicht nur innerhalb des VJ-Universums für Verwirrung und Aufsehen gesorgt. Mit Ausstellungen auf Medienkunstfestivals wie der Profile Intermedia Bremen, dem Bitfilmfestival in Hamburg oder dem Typograviehlebt- Symposium in Weimar bahnen sie sich ihren Weg zwischen Kunst und Clubkultur.
The preENTER-Sessions
Die preENTER-Session ist eine audiovisuelle Live Performance- die Kooperation von Pentatones und YouArewatchingUs. Bild entsteht für Ton und Ton für Bild. Das Ensemble umfasst vier Musiker und zwei Videokünstler, die ihre "Instrumente" live spielen. Die Steuerung basiert auf verschiedenen, eigens dafür entwickelten Controllern, die zusammen mit anderen Instrumenten eine Symbiose eingehen. Eine Installation aus sechs Flachbettscanner, ist zentrales Element und liefert das Material für die Bildwelt. Sie ermöglicht die aktive Teilnahme der Zuschauer am projizierten Bild. Scannt sich ein Zuschauer, erscheint er auf der Leinwand und wird später Teil der visuellen Performance, die wiederum mit der Musik interagiert. Zuschauer und Performance sind aufeinander angewiesen und können nur durch Interaktion bestehen. So entsteht ein aktiver Dialog mit offenem Ausgang.

For more than 12 years The Degenerate Art Ensemble have stampeded over every artistic boundary they have found before them. Much of their reputation is based on their multimedia performances, where they don oulandish costumes reminiscent of some macabre pantomime.
The Bastress, their seventh studio album, has to stand alone from this visual support. Nonethless the music is so rampant with ideas that it peoples the theatre of the imagination with its own compelling actors. The line-up is a nonet conducted by Joshua Kohl, and the most immediate and visceral force on the recordings is the voice of Haruko Nishimura. Her dextrous howls and screeches skittle over the opening "Oni Gorshi" and the title track, where she is answered, provoked and confronted by a chorus of male voices.
Equally striking are the instrumentals. The big-band-gone-bad rollercoaster of "Beast With a Bellyful of Bedsprings" is intense and overwhelming. "Tits And Honey" opens with a helter-skelter bass riff and angular guitar line, the drums rising and rolling underneath. The brass section vamp in an off-kilter manner, only for the whole performance to subside to a shuffling whisper. It revives itself for guitarist Sam Mickens to execute a stabbing solo, before stumbling and rumbling into a capitulating diminuendo.
The impact of Nishimura's voice and the versatile energy of the group's collective instrumental prowess combine most memorabley on the closing track "Smoking Baby", a sinister prowl that explodes and climaxes with her wretched intoning "Lonely, lonely, lonely" with a disturbing and invasive frankness.
