I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

i'm an nyc transplant living in seattle, and the experience has been a catalyst for some pretty powerful transitions... i've cut out destructive influences in my life that were dragging me down and am making a conscious effort to surround myself with people and experiences that inspire me to think and act more positively. i'm both a realist and a dreamer, and though i can easily get caught up with overanalyzing things, i usually follow my instincts in the end. i'm always down to rock out to dirty beats 'til dawn, but i get just as psyched about staying in and writing in my journal or working on music...

My Interests

losing my hearing to music of all tempos & flavors(electronic/indie/latin/downtempo/dub/classical), being a total nature junkie (backpacking, snowboarding, kayaking), making beats, being in love with my synth, random bursts of insomniac writing, appreciating irony and synchronicity in (seemingly) everyday things, improv theater, yummy veggie foods, spoken word/slam poetry, road trips, kaua'i, daydreaming.

I'd like to meet:

artistic, unconventional, and genuine people who are passionate about what they do and how they make their mark on the world. those who go against the grain-- not for the sake of proving anything, but to be true to themselves. people who get sarcasm and don't misinterpret it as a personal attack (do they exist in seattle?!). open-minded people who welcome different perspectives that challenge their attitudes and beliefs. i don't have much patience for fakeness, pettiness, drama, or hidden agendas-- i told you motherfuckers, it's no more subliminal shit.

Music:

BEATS: trentemoller, martinez, phonique, booka shade, john tejada, swag, lee curtiss, seph, london elektricity, nine inch nails, thievery corporation, kruder and dorfmeister, dj shadow... okay, i need to stop.SOUNDS: beck, debussy, chopin, medeski martin and wood, yo la tengo, massive attack, talking heads, bjork, tool, radiohead...

Movies:

pi, memento, scratch, adaptation, magnolia, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, fear and loathing, go, usual suspects, picture of dorian gray (1945 version)..

Television:

six feet under and twin peaks (RIP), and basically anything on discovery, the travel channel, and animal planet. recently obsessed with the office. most other TV is mind-numbing :p

Books:

the food revolution, the tipping point, confederacy of dunces, notes from underground, picture of dorian gray, anthem, 1984, catch-22, confessions of an economic hitman. currently reading and loving "shampoo planet".

Heroes:

see "music". and people who take whatever risks necessary to fulfill their vision (i.e. ayn rand, frank lloyd wright).. and of course, my mom. :)

My Blog

Misha, Kynd, & Justin Byrnes @ Vitos (6/24/08)

Maybe I'm just getting old, but it takes a LOT for me to go out during the week. There was a time when any night could be a proper start to the weekend (or a way to keep it going), but after taking ye...

Photosynthesis Festival 1.0, somewhere in the woods outside Seattle (6/14/08-6/15/08)

My friends wouldn't believe me, but it's trueI'd never been to an outdoor party before. Partly because by the time I started going out to parties, the rave scene was already dying off, and also becau...

Innerflight presents The Tournament of Champions (Round 2) @ Hengst Studios (5/31/08)

I totally should've learned by now. I've warned everyone about the kiss-of-death nap before going out, yet after a pretty chaotic and draining Saturday, I found myself nodding off to Blue Planet somet...

Shameless & Innerflight Present the Taurus Tea (After) Party @ The Monkey Loft (5/3/08)

Without fail, the after party was always the spot where you could find me between the club and the after-after hours. Now I hang my head in shame as I look back on my extremely sad track record as of ...

Ellen Allien and Sascha Funke @ Chop Suey (5/1/08)

All right, I'll admit it. I got super spoiled living in New York. There was a seemingly endless supply of venues and parties to dig into, and big headliners would always be rolling through on the regu...

Broken Disco @ Chop Suey (3/14/08)

As the main room of Chop Suey got hotter, sweatier, and more chaotic during Boys Noize's headlining set, there was a whole different vibe going on back in the Makeout Lounge. Sadly, I was stuck waitin...
