I have more than I can usually process in any one sitting. I spend alot of time trying to make sense of how they all relate nd coexistt in the larger system that is the universe at large. If I was any more specific I might actually be saying something tangible about myself and nobody wants that. But really... i like; afrobeat, funk, Brazil, capoeira, break-in parties, poppin, breakdancing, steppin, old-school as opposed to retro, quality food wherever it comes from (but particularly; sushi, Vietnamese, Argentine, French, Ethiopian, Korean, Indian and Spanish). I like big cities, with lots of people and things to do, good record stores, book stores, art museums, underground galleries. Underground culture in general, and the good people that make it happen. I like turning people on to music they maybe have never heard before. I like teaching my son about the world. I like, toy robots, comics, science fiction, philosophy, comparative religion, mythology, cosmology, sacred geometry, and, chaos physics. I am mainly interested in how it all fits together and where I fit in. Oh yeah, Burning Man!
Yo Mama!
Mmmmmm... Well I have been playing music since I was five and have had an avid interest ever since. When I was a teen (late eighties early nineties) I listened to punk, hip hop, jazz, psych-rock, alternative, industrial, etc... Got turned onto techno, house, breaks, trance, acid Jazz in 92-93, that was a whole new world. I started buying vinyl and have been addicted ever since. My collection unlike some DJs is pretty much across the spectrum, with a strong dose of early Jungle/intelligent, Deep/Acid House, Acid/Nu Jazz, Trip Hop, Dub, Rare Groove/Soul and IDM. My buying has slowed down significantly since I became a Dad, I have been producing, engineering and doing live shit more. My Biggest inspiration of the last few years has been Afrobeat and Ethio Jazz. I have been experimenting alot with mixing different kinds of world beat sounds. A Post-global beat stew if you will. Its really thick and sometimes clashy but the overall effect is something very different. Sometime in the future I will make a list of influences and seelcted playlists.
