What up!
My name is Chakara Conyers, and I am the C.E.O. of Mbrace Magazine. First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time out to view my proposed project. I am a Raleigh native and I currently work with the HIV infected population of Wake County, in Wake County’s Community Health Department. Growing up on the streets of Southeast Raleigh, I witnessed a lot of my peers fall victim to many different unfortunate situations. Our environment was not a cookie-cut perfect one, but it was one of many troubling factors. From drug usage, selling, prostitution, to gang violence, my environment was and still is killing itself.
Luckily, with the support of family, school educators, and program mentors, I was able to come out of this whirlwind of destruction, by staying committed to my education. In 2004 I was hired as the front office coordinator, for Wake County, of a local office, in Raleigh, N.C., that served the HIV infected population of Wake County. In only my first week there, I recognized faces from my community that were infected by this disease. I learned that many of the homeless persons I passed on the streets were dealing with this deadly disease. Friends of my family, old schoolmates, and even babies were coming thru our doors, with their cries for help, and this showed me that I was placed here for a reason. That reason was to serve my community.
Mbrace Magazine’s concept was created in December of 2006. Mbrace Magazine’s mission is to provide communities with the #1 source for updates and news on music, entertainment, and necessary awareness education. Touching on topics in interviews such as life choices, peer pressure, thoughts on community health, under-privileged environments, HIV, and more, Mbrace will embrace our communities well-being and restore hope in our young people.
Please join us on our mission to make our community a better place for our young people.Currently, Mbrace has been in contact and sharing the project, with many all over the south and east coast, such as powerful community activists, national recording artists, know radio and tv media companies, producers, photographers, clothing labels, record labels, entertainment companies, writers, models, etc. Everyone is on standby waiting to hear how they can help Mbrace their communities and learn more about the project! We welcome anyone who's interested in an internship/volunteer opportunity or just want to be apart of this Mbrace movement! Contact us @
