"Don't play what's there, play what's not there"

About Me

I've been playing the drums since the age of 10. After studying jazz at the University of Southern Maine with Les Harris Jr, I started playing professionally around New England with blues, jazz, funk and R&B groups including Blue Steel Express, the 3-D Horns, Nick Curran and Petting Zoo. In 1997, I hit the road for Los Angeles to play with funk/rock artist Wenty Morris. This lead to a string of opportunities on stage, in the studio, and on television. Along the way, I had the pleasure of performing with blues legend Taj Mahal and funk/acid-jazz greats The Brand New Heavies, while touring the U.S. and Europe. Once again returning to the New England area in 2000, I joined the popular local group Lolita's Bliss. It was there that I met and married singer/actress Cathy Sanborn, while also appearing with other groups such as the blues/rock stud Todd Royce and the fabulous Radio Junkies. Now residing in Nashville, I just started studying with Chester Thompson (of Genesis/Phil Collins/Weather Report fame) and am juggling a busy schedule teaching, starting an entertainment company with my wife (The Street Theatre Company), and gigging with artists including James Brown sax-man Waldo Weathers, swing sensation the Capitol Swing Big Band, original songwriter Brandon Gunter, and many others.
