About Me
The original Self Destruction record was released in 1989 by, The Stop The Violence Movement. This movement was created by Author/Screenwriter, Nelson George, Ann Carli and KRS-1 of Boogie Down productions. This record contained the vocal stylings of Hip-Hop Pioneers KRS-1, Public Enemy, Heavy D, M.C Lyte and Kool Moe Dee to name a few. This movement was designed to combat crime and clear accusations that hip-hop only portrayed negativity. This is the sequel to that project. It was created by Art icon Juan “Cheese†Vasquez, Jermaine “Maine Gotti†Hardrick and Christopher “Crisis†Campbell. The artist chosen to re-enact this classic movement are from Jersey City, NJ and are well known by the youth in their community. They can relate to the struggles and pressures of living in a city where the crime rate is very high.
The Jersey City artists are: Heat/Crisis, Panic, Monroe
