Been told that I DIS' some Brothas cause I can throwdown or bust a move dancing (Don't hate on me. If the brothas would just pull up ya drawz and dance and not prance so damn much). I am proud to be an AMERICAN first and foremost, I bleed RED-WHITE AND BLUE along with having proud CAJUN heritage in my soul and blood. I was born and raised in the Dirty South, South LA (CAJUN COUNTRY). Don't EVEN get me started on these groups that are BORN in the USA as citizens then CLAIM to be ....this or that or whatever so called politically correct Nationality-American first. Check it out for yourself. They are easy to spot since their the first to BITCH when the CHECKS(Handouts) not in the mail, or the foodstamps won't pay for ALCOHOL & FAGS (Cigarettes or Blunts). Straight up, if you are BORN in the USA then (HELLO McFLY) you are an AMERICAN first!!!! Take PRIDE in being an AMERICAN before its taken from USa. No, No , No, now don't go start pointing fingers or labeling me as a racist or prejudice and waving your race card around. I'm just PISSED and tellin it like I see it, simple as that. A MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE while I reflect... BREATH, BREATH, DEEP BREATHES. OK, that's out of the way now what's next about me? I just LOVE music. I'm a HARDCORE ROCK n ROLLER and follower of music. Chances are that you will find me at most Festivals, Honkytonks, House parties, Dives or where ever there is music & dancin. CAJUNS are trained before they can walk or talk to throwdown at the drop of a hat or if we smell a crawfish boil, Gumbo or BBQ in the vicinity of our noses. HELL if its eatable and/or if its not and we have TABASCO SAUCE or TONY's seasoning, then it's on pecan and we're gonna call it a Festival and bust open a cold one or two sixpacks and "Alon Dancer Mon Cher". Oh, and by the way I am a PROUD CAJUN and not a so-called "COON-ASS". To those in the know that are CAJUNS, being called a COON-ASS is a slap in the face to every Ancestor of ours that survived their horrible trek from Canada and Europe. The late great Cajun Artist Mr. Floyd Sonnier once nearly bit my head off when I mentioned the word "COON-ASS" to him in a conversation one day at the Festival Acadiens. He proceeded to explain to me that during World War II the Cajun/French soldiers that were stationed in France protecting those French Asses were called "COON- ASSES" by the Frenchmen, basically meaning that the Cajun soldiers that spoke in broken english were considered lower in class than a "COONS ASS" or "Black Mans Ass" as French proclaimed in so many words. Had it not been for us, the French would be speaking mostly German right now!! So moving on, Cajun music is in my bloodline, yet I never learned to play any traditional cajun instruments such as the accordian and fiddle. I guess that's because I am lefthanded and it's tough playin the accordian upside down. Some of my Cajun cousins that play Cajun music damn good are, Nathan Abshire..RIP (Accordian), Leo Abshire..RIP (Fiddle), Ray Abshire (Accordian) and Robert Jardell (Accordian). I believe everyone of them played with the Balfa Brothers at one point or another. I do my part just dancing Cajun waltz or two-step to carry on our Cajun family heritage and traditions. Some girls will ask me after a dance or two where did I learn to dance such a traditional Cajun waltz style. The honest truth is that I learned a long time ago on sleepy Sunday mornings at the Chank a Chank in RiceVille (Chickie-Town) with my Maw Maw Cormier. She would lead me around the old creaky dance floor with my bare feet planted solidly on top of hers. I'm proud that I at least learned to dance like a true Cajun. Thanks a million Maw Maw Cormier. I never did learn to speak Cajun French though (it's such a beautiful language too). As a kid my family usually spoke in French at family gathering so as keep the children from nosing in on the adult conversations. But, we were able to pick up a few choice curse words in French here and there. I now can empathize with my Cajun French speaking relatives for not passing on such a rich language. I hardly ever heard my dad..RIP (God Bless his Soul) speak French. When he was a tadpole at 4yrs. old he could speak only French and the teachers in school would scold him and the kids if they spoke any French while in school. They were made to feel belittled and embassassed if caught speaking French in school. Times they are a changing... SO MAKE A STAND FOR SOMETHING or FALL FOR EVERYTHING......
