Elsie Law Designs is the brain child of none other than, Elsie Law The Rap Starlet. Having developed a love for fashion in very early childhood, Elsie Law States: “ I’ve always loved all different kinds of clothes. I look at fashion and styling as another way to express my creativity. Ever since I was little girl, I would use my clothes and my style of dress to express my different moods and my uniqueness. I started to find that the looks that I would create for myself would often be the following season’s next ‘It look.’ I’ve always felt that I had fashion ESP.” Looking to capitalize on her “fashion ESP,” Elsie Law is gradually building up Elsie Law Designs. She is extremely hopeful concerning the growth of this venture. Ms. Law has her plans clearly mapped out. Elsie says this about the growth of her design company: “Creatively, I have a whole line ready to go. I have so many ideas that I know in my gut will be definite hits; and my gut doesn’t lie. However, the supportive business structure isn’t there yet. For example, I don’t have the staff, the showroom, and the other accouterments that I deem necessary for this company’s success. Therefore, I am going to start small.”Ironically, the first item to roll off of the Elsie Law Designs’ assembly line isn’t ready-to-wear fly girl gear. It is instead an interior decorative novelty piece. Ms. Law articulates her decision to introduce her patented throw pillows in a way that beguiles her newness to the fashion industry. She explains: “As a budding artist and entrepreneur, I have a lot of ambitions, as well as a lot of responsibilities, to fulfill. I’ve seen a lot of companies bury themselves by trying to do too much too soon. In order to avoid that pitfall, I wanted to introduce one product instead of a whole line. The obvious choice would be t-shirts, and I do have some great t-shirts on the horizon; but everybody starts with t-shirts. I wanted my first product to really solidify the image of my company. I needed something that was attention grabbing, unique and bold- just like the Elsie Law brand. My pillows represent those traits to the fullest. They are eye catching. There is nothing in the market like them.” The originality that Elsie Law’s pillows display are undeniable. Her line includes a wide range of solid colors of various textures. She has also created a striking group of color blended throw pillows. One is tempted to say that these pillows go way past their usual usefulness, and are more like works of art. Elsie Law Designs is currently looking for a manufacturer for these incredible original items. She looks forward to a 2008-2009 launching. In summing up what she has in store for the fashion industry, Ms. Law concludes: “I want my company to be the trendsetter and trailblazer in whatever we offer. I’m going to set things off with throw pillows. Then I have a couple of other surprises in store. After that, I plan to launch a full line.
