Miguel "MAMBO" DeLeon has been performing for over 27 years, going back to the 70's doing backup percussion and vocal for vocalist of the famed FANIA ALL-STARS, and opening act for artist/bands like Sonora Ponceña and famed pianist Papo Luca, Ruben Blades, Willie Colon, Hector Lavoe, Ray Baretto...the list goes on. Throughout the 27 yrs Miguel "MAMBO" DeLeon has had the privilege and honor of opening and performing with Legendary Tito Puente in numerous cities, i.e. Cleveland, Chicago, Tampa/Orlando and Puerto Rico.In 1983 Miguel arrived in Kansas City - a place that lacked SALSA! It didn't take long; it was something he couldn't live without. While attending a local jazz jam sessions, he met Al Pearson, a Philadelphia native and salsa man himself, and who till this day are still playing together, and formed Sensation Caribe that use to play the River Market "Parody Hall". As the music and band evolved, Miguel took a short break to revamp "Bigger and Better" as the saying goes and in the winter of 1987 form MAMBO-X which played at the "Blvd Beat", entertaining folks from the four state regions, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri.In 1992, when Michael DeLeon received another call from the professionals to go back on the road landing with Roberto Roena y su Apollo Sound. This to an opportunity to open for the international music/movie star "STING" and a double CD recorded LIVE in Puerto Rico. The CD included the popular song entitled "Every Breathe You Take" with a salsa style performed with Roberto Roena.Family and friends called Michael DeLeon and he returned to KC to continue his love for music.
