My Interests

Music in all its forms. Musical education and history -- percussion in particular. I enjoy good food of all types (Persian, Asian, Mediterranean). Politics, Roman History, pop culture, and the NBA.

I'd like to meet:

I also teach DRUMS at 3 locations in Los Angeles County: THE MUSIC STORE in Diamond Bar; Quest Learning Center in Artesia; And Rowland Music in Roland Heights. I have 45 great students ranging from 4yrs. old to full grown adults.Send me a message if you or your young ones want to learn how to play drums!!

Music:

I like many styles of music and drumming. I tend to like the big players in the different genres rather that listening to every possible band from one or two styles. For early rock I like the Yardbirs, Elvis, The Beatles and Stones. I like the Doors and Hendrix for the sixties psychedelic thing. For the seventies, it's Zeppelin, ELP and Cheap Trick. For punk it's the Pistols and Siouxsie, the Dead Kennedys, and the Police. In the 1990's I was really into the whole Janes Addiction punk/hippie/goth vibe. I was lucky enough to see them 6 times in two years, including their last show in Hawaii in '91.I also liked a lot of early 90's rock (Soundgarden, Faith No More) and Industrial(Skinny Puppy, Pigface, NIN).As for other styles, I like a lot of old bebop and some afro-cuban stuff. Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane -- the list goes on and on. Living in LA, I've been lucky enough to see some of the great jazz drummers up close -Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Tony Williams, Dave Weckle, Vinnie Calutta, Billy Cobbham, and Peter Erskin to name a few.Currently, my favorite CD is "Francis the Mute" by THE MARS VOLTA. They are the first band that I've really been excited about since Janes Addiction!Check my TOP 20 list to see the bands I'm into these days.

Movies:

The Godfather 1 and 2, Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Dark Brothers,I Claudius, War of the Gargantua's (a must see Japanese monster flick from the 60's), Clerks, Slacker, Jaws . . . If you want a longer list, ask me which movies I really HATE!!

Television:

HBO's ROME!!!! The West Wing, PBS, ESPN, CNN and South Park. "Man v Wild" kicks "Survival Man's" Ass!!!

Books:

"The Conquest of Gaul" by Julius Caesar "Breakfast of Champions" by Kurt Vonnegut, "More than a Game" by Phil Jackson, "Black Coffee Blues" by Henry Rollins, "No One Here Gets Out Alive" by Danny Surgamen, and the "Harry Potter" Books 1-7

Heroes:

My late father, my mother and my wife.John Bonham, Carl Palmer, Budgie, Buddy Rich, Stewart Copland, Stephen Perkins, Ringo Starr.Magic Johnson, Kareem, and The Showtime Lakers.Shaq and Kobe.Henry Rollins, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Page, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Cesar Agustis, Julius Caesar, Winston Churchill, Joseph Cambell, Jim Rohn, Vic The Brick Jacob.
