Valerio Lupo Faggioni and Guido Zen, 2 italians escapedees in london, created Gamers in Exile in 1996 after a fortuitous meeting.
An early childhood brain affection left Valerio Lupo Faggioni with a definitive singularity: he could find rest only in perceiving unsynced lines of rhythms and so together with Guido Zen, Gamers in Exile were slowly shaped in investigating what we now call 'multitemporal music', asynchronous streams of sounds, making different time lines exist in the same momentum.
A battle and a struggle in the fine margin between something pretty and a complete waste of, literally, time.
In 1999 Valerio and Guido created Unbearable Recordings a label devoted to researching different means of expressing tempos and championing unfrequent audio creators.
Other than releasing Gamers in Exile’s own work the label has attracted the talent and published the work of, Goodiepal/Mainpal inv., Kevin Blechdom, Nish, Cursor Miner, Milky Chu and Anthony Manning.
Gamers in Exile work has been released other than Unbearable Recordings on Tigerbeat6, Datanom, Mainpal Inverted Brand, Worm Interface, Simballrec, V/VM test records.
Up to know Gamers in Exile have performed several times in London, New York, Paris, Zurich, Copenaghen,Vienna,Tokyo, Roma and most recenly at Art38Basel.
Their work has also been used for sound installation, multimedia project and games for companies such as MTV Europe, Konami (Playstation), Chupa Chups, Burberry and Hitachi.
At the moment they are working on a interactive sound installation for the italian rail network.
They have also released a set of software to further establish and discover the realm of asynchronous music.
