Influences:
House Music.
Normally with some type of vocals and an "up" feeling house music is built upon funky bass lines and "normal" type instruments. This music is closer to the (sampled) sounds of disco yesteryear and sometimes more typical song structures.
Deep House.
Deep House tends to be less obvious to the ear but when dancing to it you understand more it's objective - to remove you and take you away to more profound state of consiousness. It's an aquired, taste but most people when
they hear a great piece of deep and dark tribal will be taken by it's basic roots.
Progressive.
Prog house is normally music which starts off with a simple beat or rhythm. Add to this every 8 to 16 bars another sound or "progression" until the music has everyone bouncing around and then throw in a "break down" and start all over again.
Trance.
This one is quite hard to put in one category. When I think of trance I imagine Goa or a rave outside in the country. This music tends to be more electronic sounds but with harmonies and melody. It can also be very mechanical sounding too. Having said that a lot of DJ's like Paul Van Dyk come under the "trance label" and maybe are more techno than trance. Really the trance, techno, progressive can all be very closely related because their song structures are similar and only the actual sounds which make up the song are what sets them apart.....confused? Me too.
Ambient
Café Del Mar is the easy way to describe this one. José Padillia used to play the sunsets at this now infamous bar. What do you play at sunset? - Soft, Chilled, Mellow, Relaxing.....Ambient Music.
Hope this helps break down the stereo typical belief the its all Techno. Its not and if you give it a chance you will understand the talent that these djs posses and the different varieties of flava that we are tryin to deliver.
Give your Imagination a chance.. there is more to music than hip hop and top 40.. don't get me wrong I like a lot of it and play it in the clubs for all of you. But I'm not in love with it. It's not my passion. My heart is with house music. I hope over time as my sets develop into my passion that I can take your mind body and soul to a new level!!
