In these trying times where the evolution of hip hop sits at a standstill, beyond the thick mist of uncertainty for its progression, Profyle advances relentless toward the stage. An emcee amongst a myriad of attempts, yet one with exceptional talent that cannot be matched, this artist restores the soul of hip hop once and for all.
In the wild heart of Spanish Harlem, Profyle's childhood memories consists of custody battles and overnight travels amid his parents, discovering a detached emotion, finding that what is here today may be gone tomorrow. Ironically, years of this nomadic lifestyle between New York and New Jersey, and finally planting his feet in the streets of 'Dirty Jerz', opened the eyes of Profyle's higher calling into the Hip Hop movement. While visiting his father in Queens, Profyle became conscious of the social and economic inequalities that haunt Blacks and Hispanics in the urban community. "I had grasped the meaning of oppression while I still was learning how to read from a Dr. Seuss book," explains the young musician, as he smiles and glances out the window with tranquility. Through Profyle's birth given talent, a new found sense of being and an ambition once fueled by fury and rage, he uncovered a means to channeling his philosophy and soul into inconceivable genius. Thus, with this in mind, this unequivocal lyricist is defiant in making his mark in history.
And a lyricist that he is. With an aggressive voice, complex wordplay, witty punch lines and a versatile flow, Profyle’s listeners remain in a daze while still attempting to comprehend two bars before. Here is an emcee that re-establishes the appreciation of lyrical content, making his aptitude a sole weapon in resurfacing the underground movement that mainstream hip hop has lost for so long.
With heritage hailing from Puerto Rico, Salsa had fascinated Profyle at an early age, sparking his interests in such legends as Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe and Willie Colon. Hip hop followed soon thereafter with artists as Nas, Big and Pac.
It doesn't stop there, as rock also plays a major influence. From artists like Jim Morrison, and Hendrix to bands such as Pink Floyd, System of a Down, to P.O.D., Profyle's eclectic and open mind allows for enjoyment in music of all forms. In questioning his inspirations, all he could articulate was "Hip Hop." When asked for further details, he elucidated, "Hip Hop as a movement; a life style. From the sound of a D.J. scratching, a graph head bombing a wall, a b-boy getting called out at a battle, to when emcees stand in a cipher. That's Hip Hop."
