Straight out of Paterson, New Jersey (a.k.a. Silk City), Hip-Hop’s next rising star, Carlito, is taking the game by storm. Influenced by Hip-Hop legends such as Nas, Jay-Z, 2pac, Big Pun and The Notorious B.I.G., the Dominican emcee has loved and admired Hip-Hop culture since embracing it at a young age.
After finding himself as an artist and mastering the craft of emceeing, Carlito soon found himself delivering rugged rhymes of street strife, drug-dealing, and everyday life situations. Through his monstrous work ethic and creativity, his music easily traveled from the streets of New Jersey to exclusive mixtapes features from popular DJs including: DJ Green Lantern, DJ Vlad, DJ Lazy K, 4Sho and many more.
His debut mixtape, This Ain't a Movie Vol.1 hosted by DJ 007, sold over 7,000 units in the streets and online. The mixtape was labeled an instant classic and proved that Carlito was a fixture in the industry. In the summer of 2007, Carlito was chosen to record a track for DJ Green Lantern’s Myspace Monster Mash Mix CD, and the outcome was the street anthem, “Get This Money†which gives listeners a taste of what’s to come.
On his journey to success, Carlito experienced the hardships of the business first hand. After dealing with more than enough of conniving managers who repeatedly sold him broken dreams, he decided to take his career into his own possession and took the independent route working and financing his album, Carlito’s Way - which is co-signed by DJ Khaled, DJ Enuff, Nu Jersey Devil and DJ Vlad. In the process of recording Carlito’s Way the Carlito has worked with multi-platinum rapper, Paul Wall, and producers that speak for themselves in: Omega Beats, Apex Productions, Info Productions and So Amazing.
The album’s first singles, “Life of Crimez†and “We Sip A Lil’ Liquor†are clinging to the streets. Carlito also worked on DJ Vlad's popular DVD series, “RockStar†and also appeared on the well known All Access DVD Series.
