Representing the UK, he blends his Dancehall roots with his love of Hip Hop, and expresses this mix through his music. Born in South London Mr Midas has grown up within a musical family. His grandfather was part of Jamaican sound system, and his uncle was a producer and both have heavily influenced his interest in music and his style.
He started going to showcases and watching live acts in order to learn how to work a crowd and his first performance was enough to convince him that he too belonged on stage. Using this passion, Midas began organising music nights, where MCs and Singers would gather to exhibit their talents. Drawing from these popular events, he mastered what it took to be a successful performer.
Mr Midas aka DD runs an independent recording label 'GOLDTOUCH RECORDS' which hosts another Bashment artist J Imperial a rapper Madness UK and a producer E-Man. Mr Midas also is very into a Live Sound and recruited a guitarist and producer Timz who he works closely with. Other working relationships also include many of the scene's talented artists such as JD aka Dready, SunCycle, Dexplicit, Gemma Fox, Sticky, Corey Johnson, Fire Camp, Blemish Blackstorm, Cerose, Cire, Soveriegn, Stush, Don P, Fredi Kruga and Baby Blue.
Promotional ventures not only include publication and radio interviews globally, but also flying out to Atlanta GA to record with a Crunk producer named Peis and has secured a clothing deal with UKAN clothing company. Whilst raising his international fan base with guest perfomances at Stanleys club in ATL and main act for the Chokland Fabriken ‘Move the Crowd’ launch night in Sweden, Midas has been a constant presence to the scene since he began performing. UK appearances include venues such as Brixton Academy, Oceans, Stratford Rex, Stratford Theatre, Suga Suga, Carnival (Anti-Gun), Illusions, Kingston’s 10th birthday celebration club night and has also supported the Legendary De La Soul at Ipswich University.
After the success from previous projects including ‘The Goldtouch Compilation Album’ and ‘The X Files Mixtape’, Mr.Midas is currently working on his forthcoming album, ‘It Only Takes One Moment’. Whilst continuing to build up his musical profile Midas is working with T4’s reality TV show ‘MusiCool’ where him and 9 other artists from all music genres are being mentored by industry professionals to put together a modern day musical. This opportunity is one of the most incomparable accomplishments to date.
