Spiral has been founded in the year 2004. Music played by the band is hard to qualify to one genre. It blends calm, climatic sounds with heavy riffs. We think the best word to describe it is art-rock.
The history of the band started in march 2004, when Sqby and Xantis, attending the same class, met Filon, the drummer. Then it came to the first rehearsal. First compositions were hard-rock songs. Filon introduced Kulek to the band. He was virtuoso of oboe, which he ceased to play when he felt urge to play real rock. He joined the band as a bass player. This is how the instrumental lineup was completed.
The band was searching for their own style. The effect was the first instrumental demo disc, recorded thanks to ZiKe who keeps to be our mentor. Six compositions recorded during one long day in September have shown the way which the band was heading these days. Then the name Spiral came to life.
The musicians desired to "go out of the garage" and share their music with the audience. They played their first gig in Budziwoj, on well-known annual event. But they needed to find a vocalist to play serious concerts. Time from autumn 2004 to summer 2005 was filled with vocalist auditions. The band members were temporarily Piotrek Ziobro (Effatha) and Slawek Grzymek-Swietokrzewski (Thecreth). In both cases, the collaboration was short and lasted for few months.
Breakthrough took place, when Shaman became a band member. The band started playing regular concerts, on summer and autumn 2005 they played 6 gigs. Every time they played, they were warmly accepted by demanding audience of their city. First achievements of the band were: second place at rock bands competition in Rzeszow and the audition prize at October edition of the SlimP3 Underground Internet competition. But it didn't last long, the vocalist was dismissed by the band which haven't stopped creating music.
Kulek had left the band - Bruno became full-time bass player of the band. He brought some fresh ideas to it. Another breakthrough came at summer break in 2006. After countless auditions of potential vocalists, the band employed Ula Wojcik. August and September was the time of long and intense rehearsals. At October 2006, Spiral with brand new material came back to playing concerts. The effect was winning the Rockowa Noc 2006 rock bands competition. It was a great honor to the band, as nearly 30 band applied for the competition, and in the jury there was, among others, Marek Raduli (one of the greatest polish guitarists).
Thanks to the winning of the competition, the band had opportunity to record their first professional demo disc in OTD Studio in Krosno. It will be released in first months of 2007.
The name Spiral is becoming more and more known, as there are appearing articles about the band in local press and the Internet. Spiral had their first TV appearance in the Kalejdoskop show at the TVP3 television.
