About Me

Kira Kira plays toymusic, cozy draculateeth scary dreamy. She runs Kitchen Motors with Hilmar Jensson & Jóhann Jóhannsson and stages hauntings - filmed on super 8, recorded on the pocket dictaphone. She's making a film about Sigríður Níelsdóttir with Orri, Inga & Maggi. Kira Kira also makes radio shows for Rás 1 in Iceland about eccentric treasuremusic. Her debut album, Skotta came out on Smekkleysa (Bad Taste) in 2006 and her second LP, Our Map to the Monster Olympics will be out soon. Check out www.this.is/kirakira and www.kitchenmotors.com.

Band Members: Kira Kira is Kristín Björk Kristjánsdóttir on thumb piano, music boxes and all kinds of toys wired with contact mikes through twinkles and sparkles. She also plays guitar, glockenspiel and of course loud lady laptop. These kids have been playing with Kira Kira lately: Alex Somers on piano and plinky plonk. Eiríkur Orri Ólafsson on trumpet, flugelhorn and music box. Hilmar Jensson on guitar. Samuli Kosminen on percussion (dingalee dang). Pétur Hallgrímsson on lapsteel (skriðgítar). Magnús Helgason on super 8 projector. Guðlaug Dröfn on glock and piano. Borgar Magnason on contrabass.
