About Me

Her voice is anointed. Many have described its beauty as the sound quality of a “bell.” Each performance has been called “amazing,” “healing,” “awesome,” and “blessed.” She is transparent in every song, pouring her heart and soul into each one, bringing a fresh, new voice to the growing popularity of Contemporary Christian Music.
Kelly Chapman is a multi-talented, singer/songwriter/speaker/author and actress lending her vocal talents to background vocals for rhythm and blues vocalist Tony Terry and Charles Woolfork and Covenant. In addition, she performed with the legendary Norman Connors and the late jazz great Grover Washington Jr. Her acting experiences include the role of singer “Sister Sally” in James Baldwin’s play The Amen Corner; “Leslie” in the soon to be released film Through Jessie’s Window and an extra in The Antwone Fisher Story, directed by Denzel Washington.
Internationally, Kelly performed in Argentina and Brazil. She was twice a guest artist on the Italian television show “Ci Vediamo Su Rai Uno” hosted by Paolo Limiti in Milan, Italy. She has also performed as a guest Jazz/Gospel vocalist with Pianist Doctor Gabs and the late Robert Palmer in Brussels, Belgium and with Rhoda Scott in Lausanne, Switzerland. In March, 2005 she shared her testimony to a four billion viewing audience on the world renowned Harvest Show on LeSea Broadcasting. Viewers across the globe can see and hear Kelly minister in song on Celebration of Praise with Ron Rosson and friends, via the Christian Television Network/Sky Angel Channel.
A native of Cleveland, OH, Kelly participated in theater and dance at Shaker Heights High School. At age 16, she was a member of the pop band Synergy and a local gospel group founded by Broadway artist Michael McElroy.
Kelly’s debut CD, Real released to a packed house at the Ohio Theater, Playhouse Square in Cleveland. Having written eight of the 12 songs on the CD, she brings a unique singing and songwriting style to the increasingly crowded talent pool of Christian artists. “Heal Me” was a finalist in the 2004 Gospel Music Association’s Songwriting Competition and the International Songwriting Competition. A corresponding video was released worldwide and is in rotation on most major television networks including Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) Video Gospel, Christian Television Network and Gospel Music Television, among others. It was also chosen for BET’s television promotions for their Hurricane Katrina Relief Telethon.
“Shake the Devil Off” is an upbeat “house” style song that is a personal testimony about relationships gone wrong and finding true love with Jesus. Her jazz influenced song, “Get Into the Flow” featuring Eddie Baccus Jr. from Pieces of a Dream, is full of quiet energy and soulful depth. Kelly opened the BET Celebration of Gospel 2004 pre-show with “Let Your Anointing Fill this Place,” a beautiful worship song inviting God’s presence into the Orpheum Theater. Brides nationwide have already started to request “We're Giving Our Lives to You First,” labeled “the ultimate unity candle song.” And speaking of candles, “Just One Candle,” sung with daughter Natalie, has anthem-like quality and will fulfill the prophecy of Mark 16:15 to, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
Kelly is a member of New Song Church. She enjoys singing and speaking at various youth programs, church conferences, concerts and ministry events. She is a member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, sharing the Good News of Christ across the country. Stay tuned for the release of her book "Real: The Truth About Being Single".

Citing Oleta Adams, Regina Belle, Angela Bofill, Whitney Houston and CeCe Winans as her lyrical inspirations, Kelly is walking in God’s word with her unique vocal style and spirit.
