This film short is a Drama that was written, directed, and edited by Kena Tangi Dorsey. Storyline: A young man learns of who his father is only to discover that he has died. When he goes to meet his new aunt, he helps her to come to terms with her brothers death. It stars Vanita Harbour, Isaac Bradley and Nile Taylor and the original score was composed by Tracy Nicole Chapman.BIO: Kena Tangi Dorsey was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where she attended the Pittsburgh High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Later, she attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a BFA in Drama. Immediately, after graduating she moved to New York City to work in the Theater. She was fortunate enough to perform in National Tours and on Broadway in such shows as "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum" with Whoopi Goldberg, David Allen Grier and Nathan Lane; "Jelly's Last Jam" with Maurice Hines and Savion Glover; “The House of Flowers†with Patti LaBelle; "The Wild Party" with Taye Diggs; and the revival concert version of “Dreamgirls†as well as a number of original cast recordings. Other off-Broadway and Regional Theatre credits include various shows performed at; The New York Shakespeare Festival, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Manhattan Theater Company, Playwrights Horizons, Circle in the Square, Radio City Music Hall, City Center, McCarter Theater, Hartford Stage, Studio Arena, Sundance Theatre Lab, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Geva Theater, Alley Theatre, Bay Street Theater, Cleveland Playhouse, Arizona Theater Company, Pittsburgh Playhouse and many, many more. She has also had numerous appearances on ‘The Rosie O’Donnell Show’ as well as feature performances on ‘The Today Show,’ ‘Regis and Kelly,’ and ‘One Life to Live.’ After spending many years on the New York Theater scene, Kena decided it was time to spread her wings and fly west where she's recently completed film school receiving an MFA in Filmmaking. So far she has written, directed, and edited 9 of her own shorts, three of which features original scores composed by the talented Tracy Nicole Chapman. Kena just completed her thesis film project "Jump the Broom" which is a 30 minute musical short that she wrote, directed and produced and the original musical score was composed by Tony and Grammy nominated Broadway Performer/Composer Michael McElroy. Kena's film short "Sistahs in the Name of Love" is currenly playing film festivals around the country and has won Jury Award for "Best Film" in the WOMEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT FILM FESTIVAL" in New York City. Kena is also a member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, a multi ethnic, Grammy nominated, gospel choir comprising of over 60 Broadway Performers in New York City.
